We sure are fortunate to have both these great hat makers as options. I have wonderful hats that I cherish from one and hope to have hats from the other in the future. And the list of fantastic hat makers doesn't end with these two. We should count our blessings!
Thanks to both VS and Optimo...
Jimmy delivered a couple of nicely reworked Stetson Pinnacles to me at a good price 4 or 5 years ago.
I'm sorry things didn't work out so well for other people.
My first real fedora was by Art Fawcett and it was a great way to start. I really appreciated the quality and how perfectly the hat fit (he sends a conformer that measures the size and shape of your head).
I think all the people you mentioned would make you a hat you could treasure.
My 5 year old grabs whatever fedora I'm wearing when I get home, plops it on his head and runs around the house yelling "Ride 'em cowboy". He's having a great time so I'm not going to correct him!
Indiana Jones and cowboy hats are the only reference most people probably have for headwear...
What shocks me is how terrible the hat under all that dirt looks! At least start with a decent looking hat -or maybe they didn't have the heart to ruin a good hat.
This is one of my favorite shows growing up. I got all of the Lidsville episodes on DVD when my first son was born... H.R Pufnstuf, too.
It's funny how many things I liked growing up look so strange to me, now. I hope I have aged better than this show.
