What do you do on wash day?

I'll keep my eye out. They don't seem to be available in Canada, or at least in my part of it. I can find one for just shy of 30$ on Amazon though, haha!

What do you do on wash day?

Lizzie, I never would have thought of using a wavenet. It seems so obvious in hindsight! What sleep cap do you use? I've been looking for a good one. Swanson, front curls and braiding the back is exactly what I did when I had longer hair. I completely forgot until you said it. Benign...

What do you do on wash day?

That's the rub, isn't it? Longer hair takes so much extra care.

What do you do on wash day?

Your hair is gorgeous. Definitely Victorian or Edwardian though. How long are you going to grow it?

Which Do You Use - Wrapping Paper or Gift Bags

Goodness, I don't think we spent more than $300 total this year, for 6 people!

    Do Men Hate Women's Hats?

Kids, I tell you. Berets are so cute, but do literally nothing for my face shape. Cloches work nicely for me, but wreak havoc on my hair!

    Agony column?

That's just awful. I write and embroider myself, and have a family history of bad glaucoma. I'm terrified of losing my sight. Has your Doctor given you any treatment options? I imagine dry eyes due to rosacea can't just be treated with eye drops.

What do you do on wash day?

It depends on the day! If I've got the energy to go full out vintage, I'll shower in the evening and keep it in pin curls over night. I don't work mornings, just afternoon/evenings so there is enough time to shake it out and let it dry a little more before working. If it's a lazy day, I'll...

It was a quiet but pretty wedding...

I love this so much. What a fantastic record to have!

Which Do You Use - Wrapping Paper or Gift Bags

I'm a wrapping paper kind of girl for sure. My husband and I make a night of it, usually when the kiddo is at Grandma and Grandpas. A couple of glasses of wine, something nice on the telly, and a truckload of presents and wrapping paper.

Ladies, what are you doing this evening?

I will be relaxing on the couch, alternating between crocheting my dreaded project afghan and reading a book. We just got in from vacation - my favourite cousin halfway across the country got married, and we drove out for it. We got in at 6am today after driving for about 20 hours. The...

    Besame cosmetics

I just ordered Red Velvet Lipstick and the new 1941 Victory Red Lipstick today - I can't wait for it to come in the mail. I may have bought a bunch of other Besame products as well...had to get free shipping, right? :D

Do you have a soundtrack ladies?

Here is my playlist. It's a mix of 30s, 40s and 50s music with some other appropriate sounding bits thrown in. :D I like to play it when I'd setting my hair, but I tend to play it quite a bit - I think my husband could sing along to most of these with me! It's accidentally become my house...

Old Navy Harper Pants - Close to 1950s Cigarette Pants?

Thanks ladies. That was my thought too, about the rise. I prefer high waisted, my body type just looks better with it, and low rise is a no go. Mid rise might be doable for me. Scarlett, vintage inspired is my very thought! They are modern enough that my workplace can't complain about...

Old Navy Harper Pants - Close to 1950s Cigarette Pants?

I love Old Navy, regardless of how trendy much of their clothing is - it tends to be the right price point for me! They occasionally carry some vintage-feel items, and these Harper Pants seem to be close to 1950s style. I've found an image from a Cigarette Pants pattern on Etsy, and they...

What Have You Acquired From Family?

I've a few things. All I have in the way of clothing is a crocheted poncho of my grandmothers from the 1960s, it's a beautiful bright blue. I've got some linens from the 1940s-1960s which belonged to the same grandmother as well, those are in storage until I learn how to take care of them...

    New Stains on Old Vintage

I don't know terrible much, so please do get a second opinion! I'd start by blotting the stain, not rubbing - I'd imagine that rubbing would work it into the wool. Some lipsticks can contain proteins, so don't use heat on it at all. Other than that and dry cleaning, I might try some diluted...

Any other curly girls in here?

Oh my gosh, I've only cut my own hair once, but just did it all the same length. Nothing adventurous, haha.

Any other curly girls in here?

Oh, the days of wash and go. I used to have a pixie cut - think late 1960s Goldie Hawn. So easy. Now it takes effort.

Any other curly girls in here?

I'd love to see a picture of how it turned out for you, swanson_eyes! I had hair almost that long once, but never did anything with it at the time. How to you get your front layers cut? Last time I tried to explain it to a hairdresser she mangled my hair badly.
