    Fraying on a new hat

I will chime in with the same issue in a couple of spots on my PHD hat. I've had mine for several years.. Is there anything to snipping spots like that and using a dab of super glue to stop it in its tracks or is that a bad option?

The STETSON WAY, Advertising and ephemera of the Golden Era

Yes, great finds. Looks good on the hat. I have to start keeping my eyes peeled for stuff like this when we're out 'poking around'.

I would consider mine soft and supple, especially the brim. Of course I expect some level of stiffness to hold the shape of the crown, but I wouldn't consider it excessive at all. BTW, I would never consider it a roll up either.

You're right! I would consider the hat excellent if it had a good ribbon and sweat. Hmmm, somehow I would rather have the glue than staples, although staples might be easier to remove without causing damage.

Yes, I was really disappointed when I saw they used glue on the PHD hat I bought a few years ago. I would say that and the sweatband are the two knocks on it.

    In praise of newer Stetson

The one thing I like most about Stetson is the Stratoliner shape. It's my favorite style. That said, my first and only (so far) Stetson experience is mixed. The one I got stuck with (my fault) had a couple of flaws in the felt. One I fixed on the brim (some squiggly looking indentations) and the...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

The only comments I've had lately are from my dad saying, "I don't like the brim up." LOL!

I actually planned to take the liner out and I never got around to it. Maybe this season I will. Thanks for the reminder.

Good to know! I will say this. The liner was 'much' neater than the one that came on my recent Stetson Stratoliner.

    Panama Hat Thread

My hat is enroute to me. I bought a super fino with a 3 1/3" brim. Looking forward to it. I got a super fino Havana from PHD some time back. Very happy with it. I'd say the sweat left a tiny bit to be desired, but it's OK. It's a really nice weave and a beautifully shaped hat.

You can go on Instagram and search for Stetson Stratoliner and there are a lot of brims up pics.

Ask a question, get an answer

My problem is, every time I do that, I end up needing evetrything in the 13th month. We've gone through some of that recently. It's definitely tough.

Ask a question, get an answer

I can't really say for sure what the felt is, but it looks like the felt on the lightweight does not get finished to the utmost. Just by looking at the picture, the outside of the Lightweight looks a little more like the inside of the Stratoliner I got recently. Either that or could it possibly...

It's Spring. Show your Straw hats if you have 'em

Not in North Dakota, but in MN. It doesn't have to be bitter, although I don't care. I would just like it to be longer. If spring, summer and fall lasted 3 months, I'd be thrilled. Desolate is fine with me too. I love spending winter in Door County WI. when everything is closed down.

It's Spring. Show your Straw hats if you have 'em

I was thinking North Dakota or northern MN would be right for me. I would always opt for longer winters. Here in northeast IL, we've had periods of spring in every winter month this year. Can't get a good ice rink going anymore.
