I agree with this, one of the things I love about vintage is being able to wear complex constructed garments that would cost an absolute fortune if bought new. Fortunately for me I prefer the old styles so I get the look and quality for a reasonably affordable price. Although sometimes when...
I try to wear true vintage as often as I can, unfortunately in Australia majority of the vintage wear is 50s/60s, occasionally some 40s but finding 30s clothing anywhere is like finding a unicorn which is a shame since I try my best to go for the 30s English styles. That being said I have found...
This is a lovely suit! I'll have to double check some of my measurements with some of my other vintage suits. What's the shipping to Australia on this one?
I sometimes wish my friends would send me letters because I rarely get to use my typewriter, I find it fun and relaxing using them I don't know why. I only use it when I'm required to hand write stuff for university, my teachers struggle to read my cursive hand writing so I just type stuff out...
I think it's so funny how different regions use different words. I know tons of people young people (I'm in my early 20's) who use the word film, and here in Australia telling someone to get stuffed is still very much in use.
@ Eddie Derbyshire If you do end up selling it I would more than happily take that suit off your hands. I've been averse to buying dark coloured suits for ages sticking to greys, blues, browns, but I would gladly start my collection of dark suiting with that one haha. That is if it's 37/38 but...
******** conversion rates this is over twice the original price when converted to AUD (I think perhaps I should more be damning my student budget as well.) :( Such a beautiful jacket I hope it goes to a loving home while I dream of it forever more haha.
I know this is a late reply but I am insanely jealous of this outfit! Vintage 30's collegiate looks are my favorite. This outfit really is something else well done!
This cardigan arrived in the post this morning just as I was about to leave for university and I've been waiting on it for a few weeks all the way from Canada, so of course I had to wear it! It's a wonderful 1950s zip cardigan that I feel I am going to absolutely wear to death it is truly a...
I was at a vintage event this weekend in Sydney Australia (where I happened to win best dressed guy, I was rather chuffed with that.) I picked up this box of shop display ties for $45.00 AUD! All with original packaging and I'm 90% sure they haven't been removed from the box in a very long time...
I was in the Southern Highlands for a weekend before I go back to university for the semester on Tuesday and as I'm sure many of you have found that country towns always seem to be better for vintage clothing and antiques. Due to that I got this beautiful 'Le Baron' deadstock suit from the 1950s...
Oh my goodness this breaks my heart! Where on earth will they film Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries haha. Hopefully the people of Victoria get behind this and manage to save it. If the people of Sydney can manage to petition to save this god awful 'Mechano Set' intersection structure merely over...
I wear a sports jacket almost everyday, I wear slacks everyday in varying degrees of formality depending upon what the day calls of me I only have one pair of jeans that I have worn twice in my three years of having that pair. As a young person I try and dress how someone my age would have...
I collect a lot of glassware and ceramics from the 1910's through to the 1960's. I spotted these vases in a Vinnies store. These vases are from the 1950's and I spotted one like this a few years back in an antique store where it was going for $120! I got these ones for $10 each. I love the blue...
I recently discovered Alex Mendham and his Orchestra and I've been listening to his cover of Let's Fly Away on repeat for the past few days. Although this cover of the song is not too different from the original Anson Weeks rendition which I do love. I prefer this as when played on a decent...
