Wow Fading Fast, you know more about British history than a lot of people here! When I think of 1920-1930s I think of America with prohibition and the jazz age and swing. Probably due to media I can picture it much better there. When it gets to the 1940s I think of Britain in WWII, tea dresses...
Britain might be a small island but in a 20 mile radius there can be every season in one day! It doesn't surprise me that it was miserable in one place and sweltering only a few miles away. It's one of the things we do well! I am a little bit proud when people say they love England/Britain. We...
Usually I'd say come to England we have exactly what you are after, but not this week! It was 90f at Heathrow yesterday and probably not far off today.
So much for me talking about Autumn. It's nearly 6pm and still 25 degrees here (no idea what that is in 'F'!). I've just got in from work and have changed out of horrible work clothes into linen top and shorts. I'm really not used to this!
It's a bit early for Christmas stuff in shops. As much as I love the season of goodwill, Let me have my birthday first (end of October) and Halloween then I can start to think about presents and decorations! In our family all of us had our birthdays in October, November or December. My mum's is...
Oh I know that feeling. I can't tan. It just doesn't happen. Pale and interesting, that's what I keep telling myself! Glad it's not just me that prefers winter wardrobe to summer!
I am a qualified Probation Officer, but now instead of holding cases I assess and train Trainee Probation Officers. Not much opportunity to look completely vintage at work when I'm mostly armed with PowerPoint!
As much as I love summer, Autumn always makes me feel happier. The cooler air means I get to wear my home knits and cosy clothes, I can start to plan Christmas and my birthday approaches! In the UK it's much cooler but my skin doesn't cope well with any heat. Last year towards the end of...
Everyone is so talented. Amy Jeanne, those dresses are gorgeous! My sewing is best viewed from further away so forgive me for not posting anything. I am relatively new to sewing so just a few circle skirts, but I feel inspired by all of your fabulous creations!
No, I'd never wear real fur. I don't buy leather or any skins either, although I do have an old pair of leather boots that I am wearing until they wear out then I will replace with synthetic. As uncomfortable as I feel wearing leather, I'd feel more uncomfortable chucking out a pair of boots...
You're welcome. 100% Pure is available online and A Vintage Vanity demonstrated it in one of her videos which is what made me try it so you have a celeb endorsement if you are wary about spending money!
Boots No7 (the MAC-alike) and 100% Pure Black Tea are the ones I have. Neither flakes, but both need an oil based remover. I do use a primer as well though because I find everything goes on better with it. I use any/all of the Urban Decay primer potions.
I second this. For example, Dita Von Teese does the all in the same direction pattern because she likes what she calls a 'smooth curtain of hair'. I much prefer the 'wilder' look on me so I roll the first front top curl forwards and the rest of the top backwards (works well for my short fringe)...
