    What Are You Reading

I've just picked up ebooks of My Man Jeeves and Right Ho, Jeeves! by P.G. Wodehouse. Thoroughly enjoying them so far.

How do you feel about(Vintage) fur?

I have a matching pillbox hat and scarf in a black and white fur, I'm not sure what animal it is, that I wear with my winter coats. I thought for a long time about whether I was comfortable with wearing fur, because little touches of fur trimmings are so emblematic of the midcentury winter...

What's the best modern electric tool you use for your vintage hair styles.

The only electric things I use when doing my hair, and this is a stretch, are the lights and the water heater.

How often do you dress vintage/vintage inspired?

Every fall the girls at work will say something like, "For Halloween, you should dress in normal clothes!" Me: "These are my normal clothes. Do you mean contemporary style?" Them: "Yeah!" Me: "I don't have any of those."

    Do you go Commando?

I have gone without with an OBG as others have mentioned. It made me nervous. Not about accidentally flashing anyone, but about the girdle potentially getting in the way in the ladies room, if you follow. Much prefer a nice garter belt with band leg briefs over it.

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

When my hair was longer, my pin curl S-wave would get a lot of "I love your finger waves!" I can't do a finger wave to save my life. I did once mention off-hand to a coworker that I do pin curls every night and she replied, "I have a set of those at home." A set of what exactly?

    Fake Melons

My sister has them. I don't have a problem with that. What I do find a tad amusing is that she actually called me up to ask what cup size I was and then went one bigger. We don't...really get along.

    Flat/folded and tied shower "cap"?

The opening scene of "Summer Stock" shows Judy Garland with her hair protected from her shower by what appears to be a red and white striped piece of shiny plastic, folded and tied like a bandanna to cover her hair: I've never seen one of these before. Does anyone have any other sources...

    New Stains on Old Vintage

I'd see if I had a scrap of wool or wool blend fabric floating around somewhere, smear some of the same lipstick on it, and test different things on that. First thing I'd try would be makeup remover.

New Ladies and Gents Step Forward

Good afternoon, all. I'm Becky and I've been dressing full New Look at work and school for about two years now. I dream of having a little midcentury home to call my own and restore to its original glory, complete with pink bathroom.

How does a girl keep warm?

It's sweater weather here at last, but seems to always be in the mid-70s inside the store where I work. Another month or so and the heating system plus all the electronics and customer body heat won't keep up as well and I'll be able to pull out my wool stockings, but for now it's layers on the...
