    The summer wardrobe

That might be dependent on your location. In the UK lots of men of all ages wear linen in the summer, usually in beige but in other colours too. I get compliments on my Italian linen suit here and there, but it's certainly within the normal range of clothing, particularly in London. Last summer...

Burgundy Leather - Nickel or Brass Hardware?

I always wear belts with brass buckles, attached them myself. I like the weight and shininess of it, as well as the fact that more or less nobody else has it. Nowhere sells solid brass buckles on the high street in the UK, so it's unique.

Adventure! Fedora Lounge Folks in Action!

Went on a brilliant (but wet) day trip to Dartmoor last weekend, but I'm afraid my SD card has corrupted so the photos are gone. I have some photos from a previous trip instead. Wonderfully misty pics near Burrator Resevoir. I think Heathfox will be interested to see I share his interest in...

1940 Swedish Military Greatcoat. FREE SHIPPING & OFFERS WELCOME!

I saw one of these in a shop on Sunday, they're beatiful coats. You see them fairly often in Europe. I have the shorter jacket in the same fabric, and it's wonderful stuff.

Feet Up! The Work Boot Thread

I have a pair of the Traditional Work Boots with a thick lug sole. A bitch to break in, but comfy once you do. They're incredibly strong, and can be waterproofed with some dubbin. I've worn mine hiking across the bogs of Dartmoor and the jungles of Nepal. 2 years in and my boots barely look...

US Army Korean War 1950s era Combat Boots , Size 9R-issued but virtually unworn!

I have always wondered how the US GI's dealt with the significant lack of tread on those 40s/50s era boots. Fine on tarmac, but what happens in a muddy field?

    Show us your SHOES !!!

Veldts are awesome, I have this really strong feeling that they're going to come back into mainstream fashion one of these days. They were such an iconic shoe, but they're almost forgotten. I wonder if traditional veldtschoen are so indestructible that shoemakers avoid selling them. They're...

    Show us your SHOES !!!

Brilliant shoes. I'm impressed by the leather heel, how is it wearing so far? They usually wear down at rate of knots compared to rubber or horsehoes. The only time I came close to buying some Veldstchoen I was put off because they were hobnailed.

    Greatcoats

It's worth adding that the soviet soldiers winter uniform consisted of a padded cotton jacket and trousers, as modelled by the charming young lady below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telogreika

    Greatcoats

I don't think a man in just a shirt will ever acclimatise to -3C.

    Tartan-scarves, interesting thing.

I wear tartan scarves, and I've bought them as presents several times. It's very easy to get a lambswool scarf for about £10 if you shop about. I see them on the street now and then, but I think they were always popular in Britain. I remember having one about 10 years ago.

How often do you dress vintage/vintage inspired?

Absolutely. Many men wonder if they 'can' wear a jacket/suit and tie when they're surrounded by a sea of 'business casual' zombies (dressed in nearly identical shirts and trousers). When you have a strong character, people generally accept the reality that you give them. If you start wearing...

    Greatcoats

A very solid looking coat. What are the trousers? They look thick and warm.

    Greatcoats

I share a desk with a man like that. In my observation they're dashing between buildings and cars, they're poorly organised and they frequently fall ill.

    Greatcoats

No, I don't feel the cold much at all. Sounds like I might be ok with a hat and a few layers under my wool coat. It is a particularly thick greatcoat.

    Greatcoats

I was lucky enough last winter to find a RAF greatcoat for £50 in a good-as-new condition. I changed the brass buttons for some lovely horn ones I sourced from eBay. The coat replaced the somewhat shapeless Finnish coat I had before (now demoted to sofa blanket). Layered over a tweed jacket...

How often do you dress vintage/vintage inspired?

Well I really like the 2 1/2 to 3" width. I'm going to search a bit harder amongst vintage ties in future.

    Washing wool flannel

I own two Sir Pendleton wool shirts (the lightweight worsted one), as well as one British Army wool flannel shirt. I wash them both the same way I wash my wool socks: Tub of hot soapy water, soak for an hour or more, then rinse them out in the sink until all the soap is gone and the water runs...

How often do you dress vintage/vintage inspired?

Well thanks a lot Hal. If I were my fathers age, it's probably not a concern I would have. The point for me, in choosing a more modern (but not skinny) fit is to emphasize the fact that whilst I love clothes from the 30s-60s era, I'm also aware of what's current. I think clothing choices send a...

    Show us your Vintage Rucksacks!

A Norwegian Army 'bergen' made by Bergans of Norway. I dyed the white leather black, and used Barbour wax to weatherproof the canvas. I saw Nepal and Dartmoor with this bag!
