I agree with the OP.
I'd love to leave technology behind and live in a dated home, but acting as though WW
II is still going on is a bit on the obsessive side.
I looked around for any threads on this and didn't see one. I apologise if there already is an elusive thread!
But as the title says, knowing what you know now, if you could be born in any year, which year would it be and why?
I realise there have been threads on similar issues, but never one regarding this particular problem.
Allow me to create a hypothetical scenario.
You're out and about, you're having a nice time. You agree with another person, or several, to go for a bite to eat. You head into a restaurant but...
Just got back from watching the Revenant with my parents. As we left the cinema, my mother told me that she and dad had been joking during the film that I'd want all the hats that were worn. Despite the fact they were mostly ushanka-style fur hoods worn by the trappers. I'll admit I certainly...
Just did a quick search on the ol' google. Now that's how a typewriter should look! I'd love to have an earlier typewriter, but to be quite frank, what would I do with multiple typewriters? :S
It's also interesting that typing was a course in of itself? I was taught to touch type from around...
It's a manual portable Smith Corona Corsair which I think is mid to late 60's. It's in really great condition and compared to others I've seen online, looks hardly used (no discolouration etc.)
Now you say that..
Does anybody ever use the word "nab" to mean to takr something?
"He nabbed the ball."
"The burglar must've nabbed it."
Fairly certain I've used it a couple times. Not sure how antiquated it is or whether it's fairly recent/common just I din't hear it from my neck of the woods.
I've never known a world without mass technology. I was born in 1995, and the most primitive form I remember is dial up internet, and I remember that going pretty quickly.
I recently bought myself a typewriter, which I love using, far more so than a computer keyboard. Though that could still be...
If you ever return back to your old stomping ground and visit one of the museums, I'd love to see a thread showing some of the history of UK hat production. :D
Whats the current consistency? Watery?
I use an old, wide jam jar with a large hole at the top which I swirl my brush around inside. While unorthodox, I find it works quite well and after enough swirling creates a nice foam.
I also tend to submerge the jar into hot hot hot water up to half way...
Oh definitely. Very worrying.
Much preferred Lock over Bates. Didn't bother going into Christy's.
I found the staff in Lock slightly more accomodating too, actually.
Will have to pay another visit come my next pay packet. Eep.
