Standing watch in my backyard in 35 F weather and 25 F windchill.
The new label Manufacture de Berets 10.5 p in brown.
A comfortable beret outside and inside.
As the weather changes with fall coming on,
I need to prepare my cotton berets for winter.
So, If I wore one this summer I need to wash it.
If I don't wash the sweaty cotton berets, they take on the
dreaded old mah smell or trucker hat stink.
So, I will wash them by hand in woolite detergent...
I have the MdB brown beret with the new vintage label size 10.5 and wore it in the spring until the weather warmed.
Very comfortable beret., will always fit with the universal ligature.
For me the brown is best desribed as the color of an esprsso blend ground coffee, or a rich dark chocolate...
The source of all those red berets is still a mystery to me,
probably the same place as the red bandanas and the XXL white shirts.
As referenced in a prior post I am wearing the Native World possom beret.,
whice is the lightest most stretchable beret I have worn.
But now it occurs to me it is...
The annual Papa Hemingway Look A Like contest has been held at Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key Largo, Florida.
All the contestants seem to be sporting a grey beard, a red beret and a red bandana and a white outfit in
reference to the Pamplona bull run.
Where do all of those red berets come from?
Here is a field report on the new Native World made in New Zealand berets that Daan featured.
The beret is feather weight, I have socks that weigh more than these berets.
They are made in New Zealand soon to be Aotearoa from
20% possom, 70% merino and 10% silk.
Now where I live when some one...
When the temperature goes over 70 F I switch from wool to cotton.
I may wear wool on the morning walk and cotton in the sunny afternoon.
But when it gets really hot like 90 F then I go to a white cotton beret,
as I did two weeks ago with a white cotton Bonetetia Aotearoa.
White just seems cooler...
There are still plenty of cool, cloudy, rainy, showery, days left in June in Oregon,
so the new Manufacture de Beret in brown with the new red, gold and black label is
just right tor the weather.
Praise be to all the wearers of the blue and yellow.
For the last few months, every day I will cycle through two or three berets.
I wear a Flamingo 400 universal for my morning nature walk and digging out the roots of the most noxious invasive weeds i run across. So an hour to two 2 1/2 hours...
From last December after a Christmas snowfall,
the Flaminigo 400-31 exclusive.
With a headband and lined with satin fabric.
I wore for a month then washed not at Mt. Aso
but in a basin.
It turned out fine.
The 6200 and 400 with headbands are this weeks' special at SPB.
The chasis for the 6200...
Hey Alan, a great tumeric beret.
My thread today is what I have been wearing lately and
the Merino d'Arles sheep and Vincent Van Gogh paintings.
Where I live the first of November is the start of colder weather assisted by wind and rain.
So, for my morning walk I have been wearing the Flamingo...
The Merino d'Arles by Manufacture de Berets is traditional artisnal beret production experience combining with millenium long traditions of sheep rearing in the La Crau region of the south coast of France.
Now you say, "I have never heard of La Crau, France"
I can say the same even though I...
I am going to post two comments, one about Flamingo berets and the second about the Merino d'Arles.
Consider each post as independent of the other.
#1 I have been wearing my Flamingo W400-31 berets in bleu universal, white universal, and super charcoal with adjustable iining.
I wear the blue...
Daan, I am hoping you can shed light on the Instagram post by
Manfacturedeberet that showed a beret made from undyed brown colored wool.
Here is a cropped portion of the photo showing the beret
An undyed brown/khaki beret from MdB would be different.
After experiencing 115 degree F temperature, I came to realize the need for an effective heat shielding beret.
I recently have received the Flamigo Hemp (Linen) Basque Beret in Green,
which does well in the heat.
The head band is adjustable with the Flamingo Velcro tab, which I put at the...
As the weather heats up and I do more acitivies in warm weather,
my cotton berets will tell me it's time for a wash.
So, in a small tub of warm water with Woolite detergent
I soak them for 30 minutes. Then squeeze, rinse and squeeze again.
Then to dry sun for that final sun bleaching.

Daan, I have to agree the Tolosa Tupida in Navy is a favorite of mine,
in fact wearing it now as spring showers will be followed by a warm weekend.
A photo from the dream world of two years ago when traveling
in Spain and France.

Back in February, 2021.
I started this post three months ago but wanted it to incubate for a time.
After more than three months of wearing Les Beret Pacifique I can still say the following:
I am a big fan of Manufacture de Beret.
When I think of Sara, I am reminded of the movie about two Cro...
That last group photo could have been taken in my backyard last weekend;
Just kidding.
The beret plays a big part of Billy Joe's persona, so that's alright.
