Obviously very late to this thread. But it appears I am shown on the owners map :) I own two of the fawn colored old original style Riverina. Bought all the makings for a safari conversion but just couldn't pull the trigger. My second is a spare still sitting new in its hatbox :) -

Mike, I learned about the Mr Clean magic eraser, believe it or not, on a vinyl forum. Folks there were using small pieces of the eraser as a stylus cleaner for the needles that play vinyl records. Certainly proper direction and judicious pressure are keys to successful use in that... -

Thanks guys. I still have the opportunity to cut down the brim further if necessary. Brad and I are taking it slow as once its cut, its gone. Dimensions are similar to the new Akubra Lightning Ridge if I'm not mistaken too. --Bob -

Well for me the Riverina customization is a work in progress. Here's my first hat reflecting my newbie attempt to extend and deepen the side bashes. My head pushes back against the lower part of the modification accounting for the unrefined look sadly. That and I just took off my eyeglasses... -

Feltfan, I always clean the nozzle after each use as well as shoot steam into a small pitcher until any water is gone before steaming milk. So these practices obviate any of the concerns save distance you mention. Glad to read that others have used their machines for this purpose :)... -

Okay I know I'm a newbie and am learning to do things like "bash" hats. I had been somewhat frustrated by no longer having a tea kettle to use. I tried an open pot of water but found the lack of concentrated steam unsatisfactory as I only wanted to work the pinch and not affect the brim, etc... -
