    Akubra Stylemaster thoughts and opinions

:) Thanks, I'll try the steam fix. P.S I cropped the pic. My expression on the selfie was scary looking, even to me!

    Akubra Stylemaster thoughts and opinions

I don't know how or why this happened, but I don't like it and was wondering if there is something I can do to fix it.

What era does our kitchen sink hail from?

Found more stamps on the underside of both bowls. Couldn't get a clear enough picture for the other stamp on the left bowl, but the right bowl had the manufacturers name (American Radiator & Standard Sanitary Corporation Louisville) and model number (72X25 HOSTESS).

What era does our kitchen sink hail from?

And here it is! 9-15-49! Big bold stamp underneath the left bowl towards the front. Thank you very much! Any idea what the 9-10 is underneath the manufacture date?

What era does our kitchen sink hail from?

The faucet is new, just installed a couple weeks ago. We would have preferred getting something that was styled after the period, but we weren't in the mood for shopping since the old one was leaking and unusable.

What era does our kitchen sink hail from?

Getting ready to do a kitchen remodel. I wanted to swap out for a stainless steel sink because the white porcelain sink is hard to keep clean because it's white. Only method that works well is using bleach a few times a week. My wife said unless it could be sold for enough to pay for the...

How often do you dress vintage/vintage inspired?

I really only have a couple of clothing articles that are "vintage inspired". I have an Akubra casual fedora which I wear regularly. The other is a custom tailored shirt that my then fiancé, now wife gave me for my birthday last year. I wore it for only the second time when we got married in...

Help with identifying vintage women's clothing.

I couldn't find the black skirt, but of the others I only found one with a label. It appears that it may be British, which makes sense because my wife's parents were British.

Help with identifying vintage women's clothing.

Wife and I were going through some stuff in her attic and found these vintage women's clothing. I only recognize the black skirt as looking like it's from the 50s, the rest she only knows who they belonged too, a great-great aunt, which would date them to possibly the early 1900s since we're...

    Show us your vintage home!

I appreciate your input as an experienced remodeler, especially of period bathrooms. Our plans aren't set in stone (pardon the pun) yet. The only thing certain is it's going to get gutted and redone, it's long overdue. Are these the toilets you were referring to? http://tinyurl.com/ookqtv6...

    Show us your vintage home!

You guys are like me, fantasizing about what's inside that space (about 30"X30"X 95"), except I fantasize about a stash of bootleggers loot or valuable artifacts like this guy found inside the wall of his 1938 house: http://tinyurl.com/ppgtshk. Most likely is it was a flue for a pot-belly...

    Show us your vintage home!

It helps, thanks, especially examples of small bathrooms. I guess in the size category, ours is definitely "period". We're aiming for as much of the look and feel as is practical, e.g. she doesn't want a claw foot tub, too hard to clean around it. She also wants a low-flush toilet which...

    Show us your vintage home!

Looking for pictures of your vintage or vintage style bathrooms, 20s-30s era. My wife and I just signed a contract with a remodeler to gut and remodel our small bathroom. The home was built in 1919, so basically Prohibition Era was when it was young. Currently the bathroom has 70s era...

    Show us your vintage home!

I'm trying to find the thread on kitchens, but the link takes me to a thread on the social meaning of hats. Apparently it's either incorrect or outdated. If somebody could post the correct thread link it would be appreciated.

    Could you survive?

Not quite sure if I would do well or not, but, one thing I would look forward to is FEWER CHOICES when shopping. I get really frustrated these days of all the different choices of the same thing. Sugar free, gluten-free, wheat free, caffeine free, organic, vegan, ARRRGGGHHH! When I go to the...

    Poll - How old...?

Almost 100, built in 1919. We're in the process of starting some much needed remodeling and are trying to preserve the character of the place for the period when it was young, which basically would have been Prohibition Era. We're starting with the bathroom since that needs the most attention...

    Typewriters

You did a good job, and I learned something. I thought a good cleaning would mean dismantling it, something that seemed like a nightmare with all those little parts. I'm in the market for one similar to yours, 30s-era, functioning, preferably a portable because I have limited space. I've been...

    Anybody Else Collect Sewing Machines?

Thanks for the info Lark. I have the foot pedal for it too, but it's not pictured and in sad shape. GF and I were on a road trip last year and we were stopping at yard sales and looking on CL for the areas we passed through. Saw this one for cheap so I took it.
