I've noticed that a lot of repro A-2s are clicked with a smooth side on one side and a grainy side on the other. Was this something that happened a lot? Anyone have experience about what it looks like over time?

Yes, the goat definitely drapes nicely. It keeps the wind out but is light and flexible from the moment you put it on. It fulfills the whole low-fi sporting windbreaker thing that these jackets were originally used for much better than the horsehide we often see these jackets in.
