Everyday Women of the Golden Era

I'm loving all these photos you posted, Amy Jeanne! Thanks for sharing these. :) I just adore looking at the way people dressed on a daily basis back in the day. I think the gal's dress on the left is my favorite (polka dots!)--I want to see more of it! :D Not to mention her hair looks thick and...

These are coming my way (can't wait to get them!): I've been wanting a fitted blazer for some time like this. I have plenty of skirt patterns that would go well--eventually I'll make a suit! This one was a bit of an impulse buy, but I really like the dress version with the tucks. :)

I made this blouse over the weekend using the Sencha pattern from Colette Patterns and the fabric from a rummage sale dress I bought a couple years ago. I love that the fabric reminds me of 40s novelty prints! I wrote a bit more about it on my blog here...

    Best Era for Summerwear?

I love the 40s for summertime fashion! The cute playsuits, midriff tops, pinafore dresses and swimwear get me every time. I'd suggest definitely going with the era you feel most flatters your body; I know from personal experience that the pieces that I feel I look best in, I wear the most. No...

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

I just got these recently and found the sizing is fairly right on. I'm about a size 8 (I go up or down, depending on the manufacturer), and only my left foot (the bigger one! ;) ) is slightly small.

I made this dress recently from a late 30s pattern a friend of mine sweetly sent me. Honestly, not too crazy about the fabric choice and how it jumbles up the tucking details, but silly ol' me just got too caught up in the enthusiasm of the moment and didn't think this one through. ;) (Note to...

You ladies always find the best patterns! ;) I've been on a bit of a pattern buying binge lately, although it's cooled off since everything on Ebay I want I've either forgotten to bid on (AUGH!!!!!), or been outbid. At least my pocket book is happy. haha! Got this mail order pinafore pattern...
