This cap was made and used between 1916 and 1918. Honestly, of the hundreds of caps I have seen, this is the only one with a J.H.S. stamp. They may not have produced that much. Unfortunately this cap is in a collection in Italy, so I have no way of knowing about a label behind the sweatband.
