You are right actually. I checked what patina actually is and that's not what I meant. How do you call that visible grain type of thing on the jacket. The one you got a lot going on the "2002 Comp Weight on the left" jacket. This is the type of stuff i love, but unfortunately the old Vanson i...
All clear, also about protection, that's reassuring to hear.
That's what I find interesting - this jacket, according to seller, is 28 years old, yet does not have imho very impressive patina or looks of the leather itself. Perhaps it's as you said it depends on the tannery or just matter of...
Alright, thanks for assurance! For me it's less important the looks but more important that I am getting the thickest leather for crash protections. That's why want to make sure it's not Firenze.
Regarding tanneries, that makes sense of course.
Is their new or old stuff considered better...
So I just borrowed my brother's new Model B in comp cowhide to compare them. Old one is so much more comfortable and pleasant to wear but the new one has much more patina already. The old one seems quite smooth and soft for touch, so I do wonder if they get softer/smoother with time or is this...
Ok I see. This jacket is quite soft, but again, it's really old so perhaps it's just really broken in.
I don't have a precise scale but weighting on my food scale it seems it's around 2.8kg which is 6.17lb.
I just picked up a used Vanson model B. Owner said that they got the jacket back in 90's. After I bought it I found out that Model B comes in both competition cowhide and thinner Firenze leather. Is there a way for me to find out what leather is actually is? I am planning to use it for...
Hmm so I called Vanson Leathers and they said it's not really simple to add armor to model B. Thing is that you cannot simply attack if to thin lining, but you need to temporary remove lining, somehow attach it to leather and then reattach lining. The guy recommended me to go with armored shirt...
Thanks guys, seems like not many options, underneath armored shirt no the most popular and comfortable.
Well I spent 750 eur for model B, I can't simply get model A just like that. I understand that model A is more rider friendly, but I previously got an impression that a lot of people are...
Hey friends!
Some time ago I bought a Vanson model B leather jacket for riding a motorcycle, and I am about to buy a motor bike but I have a dilemma.
I know Vanson model B is really thick and great moto jacket, but it does not have built in armor and not even pockets for armor. So how do most...
Hmm, good point about sleeves creasing up. I thought that with time jacket will fold over my body and sleeves will actually get longer, no? No jacket is like an armor, but i expect with time it will get more to my body and therefore get longer.
Oh don't worry about that, i took it funny :D...
Good point, will do that!
That's exactly my plan, i'd like to get some skimmer armor shirt underneath my vanson, but have no idea how thick they are. If i am with t-shirt and even a sweater my jacket is somewhat too big for riding indeed, but i think it might fit just right with the armored...
You are talking about model A probably, which has armor, but I think it makes sense to have separate jacket and armored shirt. In that case you can actually use the jacket casually, and still look good away from motorcycle.
Well the problem is that the leather is so thick and non flexible at this moment that it's hard to tell if it is tight or not. But indeed i can fit several sweatshirts underneath, but they it gets really tight.
@01flhr, I don't live in very hot climate so having a sweater underneath is...
Hi guys. I got Vanson model B leather jacket. How do you guys think it fits me? I actually intend to use it for riding motorcycle, and i think i might need one size smaller. When i sit, it sticks into my throat, but overall it's pretty snug, but again it's hard to tell as it is too stiff now, i...
