I didn't see a thread running where this would fit but I wanted to share with my fellow loungers. This is where I've been living the past few years. The town hasn't changed all that much but fashions certainly have.
 Old school stitched and nailed leather shoes sometimes develop a "Squeak". Is there a cure? My highly polished brown Corcorans get lots of compliments but the squeak when I walk is slightly embarrassing.
Not me.
It's my wife. She has recently decided that she is allergic to wool. Every time I put on a wool sweater she starts to wheeze and sneeze. This is a real problem for me because 1) we are spending the winter in Alaska, and 2) a couple of years ago I got rid of most of my Patagonia...
I just received the new Fedora Lounge Newsletter (Very cool, IMO.) and was reminded that it has been a while since I have visited. We are sailing to Hawaii in a few days so I won't be able to frequent the forums for at least a month but I will be looking forward to checking in again as soon as...
This is a bit late so apologies for that to David and Joella.
After wearing it for a season, the sweatband in my $11 ebay Resistol disintegrated. I sent the hat to TH for a cleaning and reblock and a new sweatband and liner. When I got it back, it was too big for me. It had been a bit loose...
Does anyone have any experience with Texas Hatters? I have been contemplating ordering a custom hat from them for some time. My immediate need is for repairs to my Resistol OR clone - new sweat band. TH quoted me $20 for a new leather sweat band installed. I have no idea what the going rate...
I've spent about twenty minutes searching the forum with no luck on this so I hope a new thread is not inappropriate.
I love wool sweaters and by happy circumstance they are cheap and easy to find around here in second hand stores. Even better, they are sometimes available for nothing at...
My lovely wife has, over the years presented me with several accessories to abet my cigar habit: Cutters, lighters, a humidor and of course cigars. Here are a couple of my favorites:
The "Havana Clipper". A one inch tanto point lock blade with a hole in the handle scale just the right size...
There are some obvious ones of course. Men with great style, like George Burns. (Who smoked 15 Queens a day)
Shown here with a young Ray Bradbury
But I submit Sigmund Freud as my entry.
He reputedly smoked 20 or more a day.
Quote: "My boy, smoking is one of the greatest and...
Arrived yesterday at noon. I haven't taken any photos yet but it is exactly as shown on ebay. The hat looks beautiful, like it has never been worn! there are no stains or moth bites or any other blemishes at all. I snapped the brim and wore it all after noon strolling around Friday Harbor...
I've been wanting an Open Road or Stratoliner for some time now and have been watching ebay and even bid on some. I have owned various hats, including one Stetson 4X beaver Cattleman in size 7, from size 6 7/8 to 7 1/8. I currently have a cheap wool felt fedora (Pendleton) in size M. I have...
In the opinion of the learned and experienced members with impeccable taste, what would be the best hat to wear with a navy blazer (Single breasted with scrimshawed ivory buttons) over an open collar shirt and khakis (Bill's)? Sperry topsiders of course for footwear.
In other circumstances...
