    A2 jacket fit

Here I was thinking it was too small, haha. It is plenty sung with a sweatshirt under it, which is important for me to be able to wear. For reference, this jacket is an Avirex in size 40, and I am 6'0'' and 175 pounds.

    A2 jacket fit

Every jacket I've owned for the last 10 years has been "cavernous". I am tall and skinny. Typically jackets that are long enough are too wide in the chest. My chest measurement is a bit bigger than 38'' and most of my clothing is size large/42. Anyway, I took a chance and bought a used A2 jacket...

Dumb question, does brown go with black?

I have dress shoes and belts in both brown and black. When I'm being casual, I wear black cowboy boots that are a bit beat up. I just got a black 100% beaver cowboy hat. I only wear cowboy hats when it is raining or snowing. I guess my main question is, would a dark brown jacket look odd with...

Dumb question, does brown go with black?

I have mostly black shoes, belts and hats. My jackets are nearly worn out and need to be replaced. My current jacket which now has holes worn in it is a black lambskin A2 style bomber jacket. I'm currently looking to replace it. I'm looking at more authentic A2 jackets in goatskin or horsehide...

    Northwest Hats, Eugene, Ore.

I bought my first fur felt cowboy hat used on ebay as a broke undergraduate student to keep rain off of me while riding my bike to school. Now that it's worn out, and I'm a professor, I replaced it with a 100% fur felt cowboy hat made by Northwest Hats. The quality is fantastic. Depending on...

Tips for best "all weather" hat

I figured I'd mention that I got my hat from Northwest Hats this week. It turns out I ordered it a little large, but Mike was very patient in helping me make it work. After adjusting the crown a bit, the hat fits well. It is extremely high quality. And after going for an extended walk in the...

Tips for best "all weather" hat

I emailed the folks at Northwest Hats. They are offering a 100% beaver cowboy hat for $350 with a 3-4 month wait. Reviews on their facebook page look great, and that's by far the best full beaver western hat price I've seen so far. Anyone here have personal experience?

Tips for best "all weather" hat

I emailed some of the companies referenced here, and didn't really think about wait times. I'm probably moving in the next few months. I've been meaning to get a fedora at some point anyway. Would the Akubra adventurer be a good choice in the short run?

Tips for best "all weather" hat

Interesting, I had tried googling custom hat makers but hadn't found any 100% beaver hats in that kind of price range. I'll check them out. I intend to eventually pick up both a nice western hat and a nice fedora. I'm located in North Carolina. Most of the shops within a few hours drive seem to...

Tips for best "all weather" hat

Hello, I've been lurking for years. I bought my first hat nearly 10 years ago after reading about the water resistant properties of fur felt. My current hat is a Bailey's fur felt cowboy hat I got used on ebay for dirt cheap. It has served me well, but is starting to get soft, and lose water...
