Hat making tools
The tipper is a hat making tool which is used for obtaining a creased crown with the action of the pressure. You put the tipper on the upper side of the crown, a teardrop hat block for example, and press it down, untill you obtain a teardrop crease. For sure other members may explain it better. -

Hi Bertie.Wooster, Inwards' book on straw hats has a chapter on hand blocking. 1920 edition maybe. I don't know modern methods. Regards, Ciro
