Getting close, once again, to that lifetime purchase, a Himel Bros leather jacket – it's the Canuck, in particular, I've long coveted. What I want to know is, who, among those of you who own one, has kept it and wears it a lot and who, despite finding the jacket beautiful to look at and maybe...
Stores, etc? Much appreciated.
It’s a flying visit. Will be taking in as many of the Beat and bohemian stops as poss but vintage and repro apparel also of interest.
Hello, loungers. Close to pulling the proverbial trigger on a Himel Canuck and am wondering about the finishes. Tossing up between the black pigment finish (which is designed to show the lighter teacore beneath, with time and wear) and the dark brown oil tanned (which also allows the base to...
Loungers, am thinking of splurging on an Orgueil leather car coat. Generally, the sizing seems fine but something I can't work out remotely is the armhole cut on the Japanese jackets. What do people think? Overly restrictive? I do have a fairly athletic build.
I just bought this beautiful Italian leather car coat from a member here but it's catch-and-release: couple of inches too big around the chest. Still, worth trying on. I'll take what I paid for it: $740/£540/€620, plus delivery (see below). Here's the item new (which this virtually is).
Prefer...
Anyone have a good definition of it or knowledge of it? I have tried to find out, to no avail. Himel use it, as do Goodwear.
Wonder if it's like Aero's new black-brown.
Looks nice.
Who do loungers think makes the best quality mouton collars for leather jackets? I hear John Chapman of Goodwear uses old fur coats because he thinks modern mouton doesn't cut it (either not plush enough or too dense and lacking water repellent qualities).
Real McCoy's also seems to use some...
Loungers: my latest trophy. I now pretty much only bag a jacket if there is travel involved. A trip to the mellow seaside city of Thessaloniki yielded this number, after a fitting and a three-month or so wait, from the very skilled Theodoros, of the eponymous Thedi Leathers.
I also picked up...
Anyone recommend any? Of a vintage, classic appearance or just anything that doesn't look like you've taken bad drugs. I went to look to replace an existing pair today and it hurt my eyes. Ideally not equally eye-wateringly expensive.
I usually hang out in the Outerwear forums, so hello.
Loungers, thinking of investing in one of these beauties from the as yet little known Whitefeather Mfg Co in Vienna.
What do people reckon is the ideal back length for such a jacket? I think they are best kept fairly brief – but not too brief. I am just over 6' (184cm) and was thinking a 28"...
