What’s the preferred method of selling a hat and making it available to Lounge members preferentially? Put it on ebay and immediately make a for sale post here with the link?
I’ve got this hat and wear it like a traditional Open Road with the brim up. Great felt - before I bought it, I emailed them to make sure it wasn’t a woolie because who knows what 7X means from brand to brand. The customer service agent assured me it was a beaver blend and one level below their...
So what is the current/favored protocol for selling a hat around here? I’ve got one to sell and want to get it seen widely, but I’ve never done this and want to do it the right way.
“Had this been made open crown with less taper and more crown height, I’d say it’s worth it.”
This made me laugh. “Were this a completely different hat, I’d recommend it.”
What is this? A 7X Stetson Number 1 in Silverbelly? It’s gorgeous. It annoys me when I see hats like this because I have a huge head and no interest in working the resale market. Why can’t they still produce this hat?
I really appreciate your insights because I know you have a formidable collection. If you have any pics of Stetson’s natural felt, I’d love to see them. For some reason it’s a hue I never see posted around here.
Yeah I know the difference between caribou and silverbelly. I was wondering about the difference between natural and silverbelly. I’m no aficionado but I’m also not a complete moron. Haha.
Thanks, man. I really appreciate it. How do you like the natural color? I’m debating it or caribou - no one sells Stetsons within 100 miles of where I live so I don’t have a good feel for what the natural looks like. I’m afraid it’s too close to silverbelly and will be redundant to what I...
Could any modern Open Road owners, both 6X and Royal Deluxe, chime in on how they hold up in inclement weather? I’m not talking about a torrential downpour - more like a light or intermittent rain/snow while outside for an hour or two.
I know Akubras are workhorses for bad weather, and I have a...
My understanding is that discontinued means the factory is no longer making them (for the foreseeable future). There were guys inquiring with Trudi at Hats Direct back in June about specific models, and she was already saying then not to bother with the order because they couldn’t fill it.
There’s no formal announcement that I’m aware of, but I haven’t looked. I was windowshopping on the webpage and noticed some Really low prices - every model I clicked on had “Discontinued Line” in orange and they’re clearing them out.
I’m stunned they’ve discontinued the Squatter. That’s the...
According to Hats Direct, Akubra has discontinued about a dozen lines including prominent models like the Squatter, Campdraft Deluxe, Stockman, etc.
So if you’re thinking about getting an Akubra, it’s probably a good idea to see if the model is going to be around or already sold out.
Any chance you’d be willing to post a picture or two of it? I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on one of those, but I’m just not sure what the natural felt looks like.
Hey, if you get a chance to take and post the aforementioned comparison pics this weekend (or whenever really), I’d love to see them. I’ve been eyeing something in natural felt and would like to see Stetson vs Winchester felt.
That’s because if you compare the size guides of the Australian dealers to David Morgan’s Akubras, David Morgan hats are 1/4 inch smaller for the same size. It’s really weird.
