Full disclosure: At first glance I thought, "that´s it, he´s finally lost his magic touch on all things leather." Too busy, too undecided, neither fish, nor flesh.
But boy, this jacket grows on me!
Perfectly executed for sure and a great fit. I started off ruling out a lot of designs for me...
Gosh, those wrinkles!!! Did you store that one in your jeans pockets?
Seriously though: looks really great, and I never even heard about the maker before...
Thank you. Sadly, too small for me now. I guess that’s kind of ok after more than 20 years…
Lining is totally unobstrusive. A yellowish grey cotton-sateen. I got it from the Flagship store just off Regent Street at a time when I was in London MO-THU for six weeks. I thought, I had seen the...
Yes and no. Addict is using a very nice horsehide on their models (can’t comment on the sheep), so they were always at the same price as a LL with veg-tan cow.
The ‚copy‘ was always the superior product, so the new price is. purely reflecting the brand.
Yes, isn´t it?
This is basically the HR-55, but in this leather only available via "The Shop Vancouver". So you got the (already high) Price, +20% VAT/Customs plus shipping and handling.
Add a sizing mistake and your ready to kick your own backside until you can´t sit no more...;).
For me, most of the fun is indeed in the unforced evo. No treatments of any kind, no forced sunbathing.
I really like, how natural exposure darkens the shoulder/upper torso region much faster than the relatively less exposed parts.
The ‚new‘ jackets darkens much faster than the older One which...
To be honest, it took a while for LL and their almost ‚Bauhaus-like‘ bleakness to grow on me. Plus, the regular horse can be quite vinyl-like, depending on batch.
AFTER getting used to the looks, I am a big fanboy, though. The quality is top as concerns longevity or accurateness of stitching...
Thank you.
Yes, fit IS spot on. I originally ordered in size 46 as some offerings of Y2 run very small (their leather shirts and Chore Coats being examples). This one is NOT one of them. I wore the larger one during the winter over thick jumpers, and it worked - just.
Below is a comparison...
I could be terribly wrong, but my best guess would be early 2000´s.
The Black Prince sub-brand was one of the earlier attempts to add a more juvenile cool-factor to the traditional styles (Roadmaster, Trialmaster and the leather offsprings).
BP would take traditional elements and add special...
Just wow!
I have always liked LL for their moderate pricing, but I always thought the veg-tan surcharge to be excessive.
No classic model under GBP 1.300 any more means, they are easily 25% above Schott which I always thought to be a reasonable competitor in terms of cool-factor, heritage and...
Fair points.
All you have to add is another 1-1,5k for travel and accommodation (or a multiple of that if your significant other insists of joining you). And arguably VAT/customs upon re-entry, although I accept that this is a theoretical issue only.
Joking aside, you are of course right about...
Same with Arnold Schwarzenegger who brought an AP to the ski race in Kitzbühel for a charity auction. He didn’t declare the watch at customs, so he was chased for tax-evasion.
VAT is not applicable for pure exhibitions, but yeah, I wouldn’t dare to comment on the details.
