Thanks for all of the likes. One correction, the hat is size 24", or 61cm. I was looking at my original order and had forgotten that I had first ordered 24 1/4, but switched to 24 after trying Brent's sample bands. It's a perfect fit at 24, or 61 cm: snug and will hold in a breeze, but not at...
Dear fellow hat lovers.
I have sadly decided to part with my Brent Black Panama hat, purchased last year. The reasons are threefold:
1. It would only be appropriate to wear in my climate for two months per year.
2. I don't fancy traveling on an airplane with the hat, or carrying a large hat box...

Great hat for black tie...
Thanks, belfastboy. Hopefully Stephen will be back soon, as I very much like his designs and his work is, of course, well regarded. Great to learn about BlackSheep as well. I'll have to take you up on your offer for other recommendations at a later date. I'm in line with Gannon and am pursuing a...
Hello belfastboy. Have you, or anyone else here, heard any updates from Stephen Temkin at Drexler? I wrote to him in February and he said he will not be taking new orders for some time, due in part to a possible move. He said he put me on his list and will drop a line when he's taking orders...
If any Lock and Co. fans out there are still reading this thread, you might be interested to know they are offering free shipping at the moment, on account of the store being closed due to the pandemic. For US customers, this works out to a pretty nice discount. I know their felt hats don't get...
Thanks deadlyhandsome. They said it was a hat maker in Quebec (province, not city), but I should have inquired further. Very dense and smooth breaver, clay-like and highly moldable.
A cool spring day, perfect for my favorite Cordings tweed suit and a short-brimmed, brown beaver with a raw-edge from Henri Henri in Montreal. Sorry for the crooked pic, my three-year old took it (she insisted). This is actually my first real hat, other than caps. Getting into hats has been on...
Great warm weather hat! I've been considering a hemp fedora for the summer, but I can't find a lot of info on hemp here on the lounge. Can you share a little bit about how the material wears? Does hemp hold its shape well? Is it durable, or should it avoid rain like toquilla? How does hemp...
Thanks, belfastboy. Very helpful to know about the darker color in the unpounded swatch, I hadn't heard of that. I'll be sure to ask for swatches and keep that in mind. True, the color can be appear radically different when digitized.
That's good advice, thanks. My wardrobe definitely tents toward the warm end of the spectrum, rich brown and mossy tweeds and flannels. I have in fact been holding my computer up to some of my jackets to see how the colors combine, not crazy at all imho! Matching is indeed tricky. I do have some...
Many thanks Tukwila, belfastboy, deadlyhandsome and Rmccamey for your replies and advice! I've basically spent my Saturday going through all of the photos on this thread, as well as Michael's gallery (many of the same hats, to be sure). I'm definitely sold on his work. I originally was looking...
Hi all, I'd be grateful for color advice for a commission from Gannon. I'd like a hat that will compliment my tweed-heavy fall and spring suits and jackets. My tweeds tend toward the brown and green spectrum, as one would imagine, and I wear other odd jackets in similar colors, with a covert...
