Holy Thread Revival, Batman!
I have been looking through this thread and I have to say, the leather jackets in it aren't really my style...
But the jacket I love is the one the Captain is wearing in the saluting photo, further up the page, sorry I can't seem to quote it.
I have been trawling...
That is a nice jacket, I have never seen one in the brown before.
How comfortable is it with the back armour fitted?
I have a textile with a spine protector in and it is always noticeable, I haven't got a protector in my Goldtop leathers, but i could swap it around between them all I suppose.
The migraine has passed now, it took me three days to get over it though.
I concur with what you are saying about the Goldtop revival, they have somehow managed to find a niche in a niche market, very clever.
Having protection hidden in a classic looking garment is the best of both worlds and I...
Three?
That is just greedy.
One on,
one clean,
and one in the wash.
I have posted on the RAF jumper/Submariner thread about my attempt to purchase a Submariner.
As a little bonus, because I feel so fragile today and have more spare time than I need.
Here is a pair of vintage Goldtop boots I bought last week.
I have to say I am not a fan of the usual Goldtop boots, to my mind they look a little bit like Jackboots, I just don't like that style
Anyway, I...
Last, but definitely not least is this vintage Goldtop.
I picked this up again on ebay and I don't know what type of jacket it is or exactly how old it is.
If I had to hazard a guess I would reckon it is from the mid 1970s.
This jacket has the old label on it, with the legend, Styled by...
The third one is the Goldtop 75 Lancer.
This was my latest acquisition, bought just before Christmas, the advert on eBay wasn't great, although it was a nice honest advert, it didn't even mention the makers name. Therefore, nobody bid on it and I got it for the starting price which was way less...
Right, onto the next jacket, the unfortunately named Brown Bobber.
Once again I am just going to write a few words about the jacket and then put the pictures up.
This was another eBay find and like the first jacket had barely been worn.
This jacket has a gold lining like the 76 and also a...
Ok, so I am unexpectedly at home today recovering from a sudden and very bad migraine attack last night, (seriously, I feel like I have been mugged by both of the Tyson's) I thought I would do a little write up on my Goldtop Jackets.
Please bear in mind, I am not a Tailor, or a Writer, or indeed...
We just have the UEA in Norwich, I am not academic enough to know if it is any good.
I was actually born in Lincolnshire, when my Dad was stationed at RAF Scampton.
Born to the Vulcan Howl and lived at Scampton until my fifth birthday.
Just outside the first school I attended while I was...
Shabby Chic works better when there isn't a big stain on the front, that would be Slobby Chic.
This jumper isn't going to have an easy life with me, when the rules are relaxed and everything has a normality to it again it will be used under a leather on my bike.
I expect to wear it to biker...
Maybe I should fill it with itching powder and send it back.
You should try Norwich sometime, it is a fine city, especially since the "Pedestrionisation of Nowich city centre."
I only ended up in Norfolk by default, but I absolutely love it and can't see myself leaving.
Yes, I do ride, I have done since I was sixteen and will do until I am absolutely unable to.
I have a machine that is 50 years old on one side and thirty years old on the other side. (Work that one out.)
I will put some photos and words up later.
It is a small world, I know Dereham very well, having lived fairly near there from the age of seven until I was in my early twenties.
Before that I moved around a lot as my Father was in the RAF and was posted around loads of different places.
I now live not far from Acle on the Norfolk Broads.
I bought it second hand, what I didn't realise was, it is very second hand.
After four days it is nearly dry and the stain is a lot smaller, but still noticeable.
So, there may be hope for it yet.
