Hey there, I'm glad your CD didn't give you further issues! Thanks for chiming in. I was very gentle at first to get a feel for the density of the felt and didn't put a proper bash in until I steamed it. The shedding is only getting worse and whether dry or damp, there are certain spots that...

    Akubra Overload

Hey Brent, Thanks for the input! Always enjoy your posts hear on the thread. My concern was primarily about the discolouration, which shows up more prominently around the creases when I open it up but perhaps it read well in photographs. I don't usually change my bashes as I have several hats...

    Akubra Overload

Yeah definitely unusual. Akubra said they would make a new one and see if it had these issues as they're not sure if the spidering is a defect or just a feature of the felt being so thin so I'm waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed ha

    Akubra Overload

Back again with another question. Anyone else experience this much shedding when shaping their Akubra? I have a Camp Draft that had some spidering issues as mentioned in a recent post. I tried to spritz it with cold water and massage the creases as Johnny Canuck and Boomerang suggested. It...

My Akubra hats modifications, BRIM TRIMMING mostly.

hey there, Thanks for making this thread! I enjoy customizing and doing modifications as well so its cool to see what others have done! I'm wondering if anyone has experience ironing the brim totally flat with the binding on? Should the binding have an impact on the shape or will it just...

    Akubra Campdraft Question

Hey everyone, I recently got a CD and when shaping it after a good steam or spritzing with water there's a fair amount of shedding. I haven't experienced this with my other fedoras but I know this felt is particularly thin and wonder if others have had this experience? The colour seems to vary...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Good to know! I'm a huge fan of well defined creases and the character on a more pliable felt. I suppose I also haven't owned most of my hats long enough to see how they age and break in over time. Curious how they'll behave another 5-10 years down the road!

Dating Your Hat (A Place to Discuss the Age of Your Vintage Hat)

Nice. I found a site online that puts the hat between 30's and 50's based on the style of that tag so that sounds about right!

Dating Your Hat (A Place to Discuss the Age of Your Vintage Hat)

Hey gents, I'm new here and was hoping some of you could help me figure out what era this Stetson is from or point me in the right direction. There's a lot of information on here-which can be a bit overwhelming. Anyhow I thought this would be a great place to start! Is there a thread/links to...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Hey man, I've seen a number of your hats and really love your bashes. I'm curious to know if they're achieved because the felt is super soft/light or if it's a result of steam and persistence? If you pick it up by the crown will it change your the shape?

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Beautiful hat! Do you happen to know the details about what type of felt is this? Animal/weight etc?

    Akubra Overload

Thanks! I can easily see myself ending up in your position given enough time haha. I love that they feel robust but work in the city as well. Good to know the marks didn't persist. Looking forward to wearing these more when I have places to go and it isn't -15C outside! How do you find them in...

    Akubra Overload

Thanks! Nice to encounter a fellow Canadian here. I will give your method a shot and let you know how it goes. I wasn't sure if it was an issue of some thin spots in the felt as there are bound to be variations from batch to batch or maybe something related to the stiffener they use. I reached...

HNC Hatworks (formerly known as Agnoulita Hats)

Thanks Daniel! I've actually been pleasantly surprised after reading about how many people have had to wait a while to hear back from him. I contacted him through Etsy and he responded to my first few messages within 24 hours and I'm just settling on some details on my end before moving forward...

Hey there! I've seen some posts here and there about you making customs and was wondering if you had your information somewhere or a gallery of hats that you've made so far? Always on the look out for custom hatters especially here in Canada! Cheers, Gene

    Akubra Overload

Hello all, New to the lounge here and a recent owner of a Campdraft in Bluegrass Green and a Bushman in Nullarbor Tan. I do have a question about the Campdraft though. Has anyone here experienced spidering of the felt where it's creased? It basically looks like creased cardboard but much finer...

HNC Hatworks (formerly known as Agnoulita Hats)

Hey gents, Been poking around the lounge for some time now and finally decided to join. I've got an Agnoulita in the works and I wanted to ask what your experience has been regarding shrinkage of the head bands and/or the rabbit fur felt. I know for Akubras they tend to get snug after breaking...
