    Hello. I’m trying to date this hat. What I know is Frank Olive was a millinery designer in NYC and Lillian Rubin was a chain of upscale women’s dress shops. My guess is the hat is ftom the 80s. Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi, Belfastboy. Yes I have read a bit about Frank Olive, the millinery designer, who made hats for the women’s clothing stores, Lillian Rubin. I was hoping to date the hat, maybe from the design on the label. Thanks for the tip on cleaning the wool.

    Hi, thanks for your reply. So "hand blocked" only applies to felt hats? I purchased a straw hat and the seller said it was hand blocked. I love the hat and didn't really care if it was hand blocked or not then started wondering about the term.
