    The Pinup Thread

This is a silly shot from the 20th Annual Big Bang Hangar Dance in Fort Worth, where I happened to run into the lovely fortworthgal. I hopped up on the Wing of Chuckie, the B-17 Bomber and cheese(cake)d it up!

    Your alter Golden-age ego?

I'd like to say Kate Hepburn-- cool as a cucumber and smooth, with a good but of sass-- but in reality, I'm Maureen O'Hara in anything she did with John Wayne-- quick to temper, very jealous, quick to cry, and hot-to-cold on a moments notice.

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Last night, I had a boring old Vodka Soda, but about a week ago I was sipping away at an Old Fashioned. Not sure it's my drink, but it wasn't bad. I prefer Caprianas.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"Waiting for Guffman" I'm a community theater actor myself, so it was really fun to see all of those stereotypes in the film. I knew each and every one of those people in my local theater experience, they just had different names-- Dr. Pearlman's name is Alan, Shelia and Ron are named Melissa...

    Removing underarm stains

I've found the easiest thing to do is make a paste of bakingsoda with just a bit of water, until it is the consistency of toothpaste. Spread it over the stains and hang the shirt up for about 15 minutes, then launder as usual. You can also use peroxide (and if neccesary, bleach) if the stains...

    Cologne and perfume

I didn't see this addressed anywhere else, but I thought I'd add it here instead of starting a whole new thread. If a Bartender thinks it warrants a new thread, then they'll move it, I'm sure :) I'm curious-- what is your favorite scent on the opposite sex? I'm shopping for a new scent...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

Not vintage, but they have a distinctly 50's Tikki vibe and I thought they were too cute to not share. I'm thinking I need black cigarette pants and a teal halter top to go with them :)

    Today I am a "Ma'am"

I'm from Texas-- everyone who is a female is Ma'am. I enjoy it. It's a term of respect/endearment.

What's your favourite Red Hair colour?

I was actually amazed when it stopped fading! I don't think the color-treated shampoo stops fading, it just doesn't enhance it. I've noticed anything with essential oils or extracts or citrus makes it fade like crazy. My hair used to go from medium auburn to an almost blonde color in a month...

What's your favourite Red Hair colour?

I use Revlon Colorsilk in #42 (which is, ironically, the answer to life, the universe, and everything, even hair color!). It's ammonia free, so my house doesn't smell to high heaven after I use it. I buy it at Wal*mart for less than $3 US, and since I use very gentle shampoo and conditioner...

    Favourite Scents

I used to wear Coco Mademoiselle, and I still really like it, but I switched to Daisy by Marc Jacobs for the last year or so, and I adore it! It smells fresh, of pear and citrus.

    What Are You Reading

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. Southern Horrors: Women and the Politics of Rape and Lynching by Crystal Feimster Richard the II by William Shakespeare and Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger

    Lush Life

In the past two weeks I've spent about $100US in Lush. Clearly, I won't be going back for a while :) So far, my favorite product purchased so far is Flying Fox Shower Gel. It smells of jasmine and honey, but reminds me of honeysuckle and mimosa blossoms in my grandmother's back yard! Great...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

Thanks! I kind of did a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pantyhose kind of thing and just measured by lying the fabric inside of the bag, guessing, and pressing it. I'm really amazed at how swell it turned out :) I'd pieced the "quilt top" part for another project that was never finished, so I'm glad to...

Show us your vintage knitting and crochet!

This is not my personal work, but it is vintage crochet, and something to marvel at, at that! This bedspread was crocheted by my grandfather's older sister sometimes between 1940 and 1970. It was all but ruined in her home after her death, but my grandma was able to rescue it before it was...

1960's Wicker Handbag and Baronet Fifth Avenue Wallet. I know they're a little out of the timeline of this forum, but they were just so darn cute I had to share them (and if we can talk about Mad Men Style for pages on end, certainly we can share our Mad Men era accessories?) I found this...

    First swing dance lesson

I've been going at least once a week, every week for well over a year now, and I love it! It's great exercise, and wonderful fun! Keep with it, okay?

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Last night was my 21st Birthday party, so I actually had quite a bit to drink. Nuts and Berries Martini: Stoli Blueberry, Frangelico, Chambord and Creme, shaken Mochatini: Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka, Tia Maria, Godiva Dark and a Maraschino Cherry, shaken I also had half of my...

    What are you wearing today??

My 21st Birthday was on Friday night, but we celebrated last night. I met some friends for a late dinner at P.F. Changs and then walked over to Scat Jazz Lounge for drinks and dancing. It was a great evening, and I'm blessed to have such awesome friends! I went for a 1940's starlet look, and...
