I just bought this 30s dress from Etsy. It has bakelite buttons and is my size.
Prettily small on mannequin:
Laid out in plus size glory:
I gave up a month of dining out, but I think that it will be worth it!
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has dryer recommendations for me. I would like to flip my ends up like Bree in early season Desperate Housewives. My hair is fine but thick, and it doesn't like to curl. Also, I'm clumsy with a brush and dryer. Has anyone tried hairdryers with round brush...
Your ring is lovely! Here's my engagement ring. It's a 1920s garnet.
We had a wedding band made to match. I'll see if I can find a good close up of it.
Fun thread!
I don't even know if it's really original ( the dress, I mean). Here's what the seller said: "Up for a 5 day auction only is a great dress from the 40s-50s. Availible tag reads lot 48. Made from a simi sheer acetate blend floral print material. Top has a nice collar. Medium thick shoulder pads...
I just won this dress on ebay. It has a generous cut, so I have my fingers crossed that it will look nice on me. Anyway, I got it for a steal!
What do you think?
I'm really appreciative of this part of the thread. I'm a size 22/24 plus size woman and a want-to-be sewer (seamstress seems too grand a word). Also, I want to add my admiration for Lady Day's website. I love it! I printed out all your style tips.

I've been thinking about this, too.
For me it's:
Join a darn gym, so I can lose some weight and get into some pretty vintage.
Start wearing lipstick again daily, especially red.
Learn to set my hair. Some way.
Master black eyeliner.
And false eyelashes.
Those towels by Miss Dottie and the patterns everyone's posted are terrific. I haven't embroidered since high school or so, but I'm getting a bee in my bonnet to try it again. Thanks!
