Well the Stagg of Melbourne jacket has washed up just fine. leather looks good and good quality.
This was a well-made jacket in it's day.
Talon two-way zipper lubricated with stick zipper lube and is now as smooth as a baby's.....
Press studs lubed with INOX spray lubricant which is lanolin...
No worries cobber. I was not offended personally.
Merely making observations, as I believe some folks in these parts are very thin skinned. No offence taken or intended.
Well the jacket has arrived, lateish courtesy of the Christmas mail.
Complete with "eau deMoth balls" but no mouldy/mildew odour.
Lining has no holes or wear points, and the leather is all good.
It is labelled a "size 9" (Australian jackets can be like that !), more likely a US XL.
The two...
Simmons Bilt Nebraska could be a minimalist jacket. This model is black goat. Has 2 chest pockets as stock OEM but they are useful for mobile phones and keys etc. The makers are very approachable and good to deal with. This is "probably" my favourite jacket in my small collection.
No personal knowledge or experience of Jackson racing sorry.
From what I gather they no longer trade , after moving production to Pakistan 10 years ago or more.
Although i did find this I can no longer track down the makers.

AND another Australian leather jacket maker still in business , Walden Miller of South Australia...
They do come up from time to time on local Australian market sites but always in 36/38
Troops must have been "skinnier" in the 70's ya reckon ? ( we all were haha..)
Often they are advertised as "boys leather jacket". Fairly often "'new/unissued"
Next time I see one I will post the link up here.
Thanks folks for the replies.
At $89 Australian dollars ($60 USD) delivered to my doorstep it's worth a punt.
The maker, now apparently gone, did have a good local reputation since 1929.
They were probably done in by "globalisation" and India/Asia manufacture.
Here are 2 of their other...
This is an Australian made longer style motorcycle jacket. 2 way zipper and zipper sleeves so it is primarily a motorcycle jacket.
The belt is "missing" and the jacket is from the 1970's. Not a lot of wear and the lining looks good.
Now it's located in the Northern Tropics of Queensland and will...
Late to the piece and missed all the fun ?
To the OP , I have both Aero and Simmons Bilt jackets. I like both.
BUT the Aero Highwayman in steerhide , made in the blue label by trainee/apprentice for stock , smells lovely but fits "loose" as is the style of that jacket from Aero. Piddly/fiddly...
Now that is indeed a question and half !
I am not an armoured jacket wearer and or fan personally tho' I realise others may have strongly held contrary opinions.
I have "cross zips" , not my first choice , and straight centre zipped jackets both collared and "cafe/Mandarin collared".
Some...
