yup, must agree. you need a seperate brush. money should not be an issue, certainly not if you can afford a felt hat. i use a superb clean undyed shoe brush, which is genuine bristle and only cost me £2 from the local cobblers (sorry US folks - english quaint term for the boot repair shop) I... -
Akubra break-in method?
safest way in my opinion, keep it natural. i panicked on arrival of my cattleman, much too large, and posted worried items on here about how to sort it. now it fits perfectly, and took no more than just wearing it for a month.... honest. started with some tissue in the sweatband to pad it... -

Reducing hat size
I dont like the foam approach - too warm... I took Akubra advice. Mine was too big and was getting panicky that the method wasnt working (even posted panic on here!). But patience is the key, and it did work, beautifully. Akubra advice - use some folded tissues (folded to hat sweat width)... -

Anyone ever see a leather sweatband with an elastic portion?
working in a venue that exposes you to Cohen and NMH - don't knock it - sounds cool! Re hat - not seen one like it - though looks like something that would degrade, and certainly doesnt look to have life to match the life of the main body of the lid... -

quick question, kinda related!! I'm currntly breaking in my first ever Akubra. Why the hell are the skin facing parts of sweats so polished and shiny? Might be in my head, but I do think that seems (in my mind) to exacerbate the sweating? Certainly makes the sweat more noticeable... -

Akubra, are top quality generally Depends though on the type of lid you want? I dont think many would argue on here, that when it comes to working, functional hats, Akubra lead the way. When you look at their classic country/ western styles, those hats are designed to withstand everything... -
Does anyone wear their hats tipped back?
akubra cattleman wearer here. I prefer mine both ways, but with this hat, the classic aussie rancher style IS to wear the hat on the back of the head. My wife thinks the hat looks cool that way, but not too far back as it looks like some 1980's pop video. like others, i push back when the... -
