Snagged this Dobbs Forty a few years ago, and it was dirty, crumpled, stained, and the ribbon was an unatractive grungy yellow. But man was the form-able felt incredible! I sent it off to Art Fawcett, who reblocked it, cleaned it as best he was able, and replaced the sweatband, ribbon and liner...
Have a wonderful Dobbs fedora for sale, marked and fits like a 7 1/2. The color is a lovely caribou grey. Rolled edge, and has been given an attractive teardrop crease. It is in wonderful condition, with no moth damage, stains, or noticeable wear.
Interestingly enough, the seller I purchased it...
I'm told, from other forum members, that this hate was made no later than the 30's. It is in great shape for its age, but is unfortunately missing the sweatband. The felt, ribbon, and liner however are in impressive condition. Art Fawcett has told me he would be able to install a new sweatband...
Just received this Akubra Federation IV hat today from Australia, but sadly, it is too large for my head. Given that shipping to/from Australia is so expensive, I'm hoping I can recoupe most of my expense so that I may order another.
This hat is brand new, and has only been unboxed, placed on...
This hat is in very good shape for its age, but is unfortunately missing its sweatband. The felt, binding, liner, and ribbon, however are all in surprisingly good, clean shape. marked as a 7 3/8
I have no idea the value of this hat, but am told by fellow lounger's its no older than the late...

Vintage Royal Stetson in size 7 1/2. Color is jet black. bound edge. 2" Brim. 5" crown. Hat is in excellent shape, and felt is clean. Liner is also in very good shape, though the ink from the logo appears to have transfered onto the inside of the liner plastic. Sweatband shows a bit of wear...

I've had this dobbs forty for a few years, and while the felt quality is absolutely exquisite, the hat itself has seen better days. Its missing a liner, the ribbon and felt are badly stained, the sweatband is cracked and torn in places. On top of all that, I really do not like the color, as I...
I'm having a friend of mine make me a custom silver hatpin, and I'm hoping some of you could provide me with some photos of the backside of hatpins for him to reference. I only have a modern stetson logo pin myself, and would like to see what other fastening designs there are, so we can decide...
Recently acquired a wonderful dobbs forty, but don't have a box to keep it in. Looking for a nice box to keep it in. Doesn't necessarily need to be what was original, but I would like it to be Dobbs, and quality enough the forty would feel at home in it :)... I've seen a few on ebay I liked that...
my recent acquisition, off of ebay, and without question, the finest hat in my collection!
good news: the quality in this hat is purely amazing
bad news: I'm totally spoiled now, and any hat purchase made from here on out will pale in comparison...
I have a few other very nice hats, a knox...
I'm planning to order a greek fisherman hat for my uncle for christmas, and the one I plan on getting is a 85% Wool 15% Nylon blend, and has a leather sweat.... while I have a close approximation of his hat size by measuring one of my wife's hats that he playfully put on and noted how it fit him...
I've never tried the slicked back, parted hair typical of the 50's... but what would one use to accomplish the look, that wouldn't yuck up the inside of a hat? what was worn back then? what works now?
It seems most men sported slick hair, but none of my vintage hats have any hair-goo stains...
Bought this one for my wife, but the style just didn't work for her... figured I'd give the loungers a shot before it goes back up on ebay!
$20 takes it
soft wool felt
size 22
excellent condition
I recently acquired my first derby off of ebay. It seems to be in nice condition, especially the felt, though it is unfortunately lacking a sweatband. I'm considering having another stitched in, but am wondering if it will cause the hat to be to small to wear. As it is, it is just a bit too...
I know absolutely nothing about dress shoes, so when I picked up these Allen Edmonds for $15 from a local thrift shop, it was simply because I liked the way they looked, they fit well, and they were inexpensive... When got home, I googled them, and it seems I really got some very nice shoes for...
Excuse my intrusion to the powder room, but I thought this would be the most appropriate place to post to tap the interests of our lounge ladies :) ...my grandmother once worked as a milliner for 'Mr John'. I was curious if anyone might have any Mr John hats they'd like to show off? I know...
I've gotten a few new vintage fedora's over the past couple of months, and would love a bit of help dating them! bit by bit I've been picking up on some of the clues that help date various hat brands, but certainly not enough to to give any more than a smidge of 'educated' to my 'guessing'...
How does one correctly search for two terms on this forum? It seems that when I search for a 'phrase'.... "stetson panama" for a quick example... I turn up with a smattering of threads, some containing "stetson" and others containing "panama"... many more than the ones that are specifically...
