50s-Early 60s Style Pullover Sweaters?

I'm looking for a new long sleeve, v-neck pullover sweater for the winter. I have been looking for olive, or beige sweaters, but what are some specific details that 50s-Early 60s sweaters had?

I have been looking at vintage ads on Google images, and it seems many had low v-necks, but some were higher. Oddly, it seems many new ones have extremely high v-necks, almost like crew necks.

I know vintage sweaters were shorter than modern sweaters, but this isn't a big issue for me, as I tuck my sweater in.

I would buy vintage, but I am afraid my accordion might unravel the sweater.

Never mind. I found a mustard colored sweater on Macy's. It seems to have a low V-Neck in the pictures, but if it is too short, I can always stretch it.

The sweater. I got the color called "Burnt Mango", which really seems to be mustard.
