Advice on this one?

This is on EBay now. It looks like a cavanagh edge. Anyone have any scholarly observations?

It's a live auction, so you shouldn't link to it, but this is what I can tell you.

That's not a cavanagh edge, it's a sewn overwelt.
The hat's probably '70s or '80s.
The bow-work isn't great; very obvious stitching.
And I don't like that kind of sweatband with the fairly widely spaced stitching, it's not comfortable on my head.

Overall, the styling is pretty classic.

There's also a Whippet up for auction on that site, size 7 5/8, although you have to look at the pictures to see inside the hat to see the model. Any thoughts on that one?

And Neil, it's not just an old hat. It's a Whippet in 7 5/8. Very hard to find.
