What's the chest to hem drop on these D-1 jackets? And the B-6? Are they straight down or the hem is 2" less? 4" less?

Hey guys,

I just got this jacket from Aero. It looks so beautyful. What do you think about the fit? My problem is: in my opinion the fit is right but it feels one number to small. I can wear a shirt under it but not a pullover. Does this type of jacket widens a little bit with wear? Maybe because of the shearling?

At the moment I‘m thinking of sending it back and order another one in 44. Maybe even a B6 then.

It’s a lovely D-1 but I find with most there’s a bit too much nap or pile and they have a hard time getting the thickness right. I’ve had an original ( it eventually fell apart) and the nap was way thinner. Could just be compressed from years of wear. Also they tend not to make the collars hang down as much as originals. Having said that it’s still a lovely sheerling jacket. Aero are very good. Just my stupid picky opinion of course. I’ve got an Avi for relatively cheap so going to try the dog sheers and wetting down. I actually don’t mind their design but of course Aero far outweighs them from a quality perspective. Does anyone by chance know the correct thickness spec of the sheering on an original D-1? I’ve actually seen the odd pic of both bomber and fighter pilots wearing them due to their relatively light weight over with an A-2 underneath compared to a B-3 or even a B-6. I wear my A-2 under my D-1 and it’s better than down on a really cold day here in the frozen north of Canada. Cheers and great find
