Did anyone check out "America in the '40s" on PBS tonight? It was the first in a three part series. It looks like they will be replaying it, especially over this weekend, and part 2 will run next Wednesday at 8 p.m. (ET.) At least, that is all according to my local schedule, but I know different stations might run different schedules.

http://www.pbs.org and click on TV schedules to get info on your local station.

Sounds neat. Looked on our local PBS station's schedule, both this past Wednesday (last) night and every day into next week, and that show was not found. I pulled every show with the word "America" and there was nothing related to the golden era.

Can you give us a description of the program so we can decide if it's worth seeking out?

A friend sent me a DVD with a show where there were folks who grew up during the 1940s describing their memories of wartime dances, etc., it *might* have had that name, does that sound like it?

Thanks,

Thanks, it must have been so great to be around that time period (1940's) the whole Hollywood scene, or America in general. I'll keep my eyes open, PBS ran a story on Catalina Island glory years or I should say Hollywood tinsel era when Catalina was the place to be, PBS has some fine programs, and it’s just unfortunate that they have to cut in for pledge breaks in these days of cable and satellite broadcasting, thats the only thing that bothers me, but they have to pay bills like everyone, its just tough to take in.

CH,

Darn, that is a bummer. I was wondering if it might just be my local PBS station showing it for right now. It looks like it might be available for purchase but only as a VHS? But when searching, I found that it was coming up on a lot of library sites, so might be worth seeing if it's available at your local library.

Here's some info I found for you.
