And a river runs through it

Tom Skerritt’s hat in A River Run’s Through It comes to mind when I think of looks that made me fall in love with felt hats. The thinness of it, the tone on tone medium grays of the ribbon against the felt. Nothing striking, nothing harsh. The brim snapped down all around and waving around the shape of his head. It’s still sophisticated ending to be worn in the city but relaxed enough to be a beater for fishing. I love that hat. My eyeball guess would be a balanced 2 5/8” brim all around, subtly flanged with a snap and a 5 1/5” crown center creased across the top with a couple of front grab creases. 16 ligne gray grosgrain cotton rayon ribbon.
