I had no idea there was a western hat hiding in there, but I really like it.

Whew!!! I wasn't sure you would like the ribbon combo Brent. David and I debated over it but I finally won out.
    Enjoy

  4. I wasn’t sure what color would go well with the green velour either so I punted and left the decision to you. I know that isn’t really fair and I also accept that I can’t complain if I don’t like your choice. That said, I’m glad that I left the decision to you. I’m sure David’s choice would have looked good too, but I love it as is. Thanks for another great hat, Art!

Wore this to church for the first time today. I always get complements when wearing Art's work and this bleached Milan was no exception.

This is a Montecristi I sent to Art to be refurbished. It arrived back to me today. I never thought I'd own a Montecristi this nice. I know what I'm wearing for worship services tomorrow.

  7. Very nice, Bill! Any idea what the WPI count is? It’s so fine I can’t get the resolution to show individual weaves.

I'll answer Bill, Brent, this is between 1400 and 1700 wpi. Very difficult to count it's so tight. One of the finest I've ever worked on.

I counted in several places. The lowest count I got was 1517 (37x41). The highest was 1800 (40x45). So I just say 1500. I love the way Art was able to keep the Optimo ridge on top of the crown to compliment the bash.

  10. WOW! I’ll never own such a fine weave, but I can appreciate it from afar. I don’t think I’d trust myself with such a hat.

Well, word has it you're supposed to count weaves on the brim, so I'd go with 44-45.

Incredible, Bill. And Art did a superb job on an amazing work of Art.

I've never heard that about counting on the brim.

Unbelievable Bill. What a nice hat. Do you have some more information about the hat? How did you come around this real treasure?

A fine example. Luckily, I have two "Super Fino" from Optimo, which I bought a dozen or so years ago. I admit that these are "too nice" to be worn out as "regular" everyday. They are my "special occasion" hats.

I acquired this from Alex aka @ofcoursemyhorse here on the lounge. It originally was in an Optimo form made by Gus Miller of Batsakes Bros in Cincinnati, OH. I knew Art could do magic on it so I sent it to him for refurbishment.
