Beautiful "Panama Hat" from Sweden via Japan!

What a fantastic hat! I wish I had one.

Evidently Teddy Roosevelt wore one at the opening of the Panama Canal. When the pictures went home it became fashionable to wear one, and they were called "Panama" because of the pictures.

I believe they were referred to as "Panama Hats" long before that.
Panama was a trading centre
and the hats from ecuador were exported from there.
