Beltless Barnstormer?

I've always liked the Aero Barnstormer, but the belt was a turn-off. I just couldn't see myself belting it on and off every time I wore it. Can the Barnstormer be worn without the belt and not look like a frock? My idea is to make it more like a peacoat with an 8-button front, no half-cuffs, and no belt (in brown CXL steerhide) for a 60's/70's look.
