Now, this is far-fetched, but could it possibly be horween no 8 burgundy/cordovan leather as offered by both Aero and SB?

I’d go with black as well, I wouldn’t wear a cordovan jacket with cordovan boots.

I could do either, I just would not wear brown. I have a pair of cordovan-colored leather Nick's boots (not shell cordovan $$$$)

William - welcome to the Lounge. This is not a silly question at all, no need to delete it. It just would go better in the Outerwear section, instead of the Classifieds, as you are not buying or selling something directly.

I wrestle (and still do) with matching up colors, even though I see all colors well. Some folks are color blind or partially so, so trying to match these sorts of things are massively difficult for them.

There are really no dumb questions when it comes to mixing & matching colors, textures, styles, etc. "Growing up with the cows out here" as I did on a farm in the midwest, our sense of style was brown boots & belts, simple (often faded & torn) jeans and a flannel shirt until July. :)
