This month I (and my father, Louis L'Amour -- though posthumously in his case) have released two books that might interest the people of the Lounge: No Traveller Returns, in hard cover, and Yondering, in paperback ... both are also in ebook formats too.

No Traveller Returns is a novel set on a tanker ship and in San Pedro, CA, in 1939. Yondering is a new expanded edition of an older book, a collection of short stories set all over the world between 1924 and 1950. The two volumes are intertwined thematically, in their characters, and some of their locations. They are all drawn from fragments of Dad's life and the people he knew while living in similar conditions and doing similar jobs. I've included a good many historical notes in the postscripts.

This is not the first time, nor will it probably be the last, that this site helps my research and allows me to just settle into the period that I'm writing, editing or researching. So thanks again!

Congrats Mike, if we were neighbours I would pop over with a bottle of scotch and a brace of cigars to celebrate.

Excellent news, Mike. Congrats and Happy Thanksgiving. I cannot imagine any books that would be more appropriate gifts for Loungers who are interested in adventuring during the Golden Era. I will certainly order them (particularly appropriate since my dad was also a merchant seaman in the 30s through early 50s.) All the best to you.

I missed this post until today. I have read pretty much everything your father wrote that I could get my hands on over the years. I greatly enjoyed Yondering when it was originally published. I will be sure to pick up the new book. Thanks for keeping the work going.
