Picked this up at the only vintage store in the area yesterday. Only tag left on it says it’s an official boys scouts jacket. Not my specialty here in terms of jacket nor Boy Scouts. It appears to be from the ‘50s if I had to guess. Any ideas on age or maker greatly appreciated. A few very small minor discolored/stains. But otherwise in absolutely pristine condition. No tears or snags or loose threads etc... nice bright red color perfect for Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

Looks cool! Now go earn some badges ;)
Haha. I was a Cub Scout when very young. I wonder if it could be a Troop leader type of coat? As I doubt this would fit many younger children. In any case it really is a beautiful jacket. I’m glad it has no patches or badges on it. I can wear it as a genera fall jacket. But picked it up in time for Christmas which it certainly works for. There’s a 1950s themed store near me, that just recently started carrying true vintage in limited quantities. Which of course means a slight upcharge, but this is in absolutely perfect condition and it’s helping a local small business. I don’t mind the extra dollars spent on that. Curious if anyone would know anymore about the era it’s from and who might have had a contract on it?

Also some Googling may have nailed this down. Looks like Woolrich started making these in 1949. Now specifically what year sort of time frame I’ll have to do more research and see if anyone here has the wisdom.
