Breaking in leather jackets in sauna and/or steam room?

    Wear it and wear it often. I don't think the weathering from a sauna will compare to the weathering from frequent wear.

    My wife is a tiny lady. I had her wear the jacket once and she about tipped over :D

    My wife does in fact know, and was appropriately horrified.

    In any case, given the advice here I thought better against the plan. Just using a good old spray bottle to soften some areas gently, as suggested.

    Excellent choice. Although I do like to use some old baseball glove techniques to make a jacket a little softer at the corners, there's no real substitute for spending the time slowly breaking a jacket in through regular wear. At first it seems stiff and unrelenting but you'll suddenly realize one day that you have a very comfortable, custom-fitted jacket. Think of it in terms of the difference in a cake you bake in the oven at 350 for 40 minutes and one of those God-awful microwave cakes that pops out in 90 seconds. :eek:
