I've been collecting these for a little while so thought I'd start posting them up when I have the chance to (though my filing system is non-existent so finding them at times is a challenge).

Here's the first two I could find (mainly because they arrived this morning).

Battersby Hats from Punch Magazine 19th November 1930

Thanks for posting these, Billy!! This should be a very interesting thread. Im really curious to see all the differences in the way US and UK ad agencies marketed hats.

I think this is British, based on its inclusion in the hat museum site I viewed a while ago.

Josh, great ads, thanks for sharing that with us!
The Henry Heath Homburger and the Snap are my favorites!

They are some of my favorites as well, I'm just unsure what 16'6 and 28/6 mean. I've seen these kind of numbers on English ads in the past, but like I said, have no idea what they mean.

Josh, the numbers are the price in Shillings and Pence.

AH! I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks so much for clearing that up for me, David!

So the 1932 Henry Heath cost 16 schillings and 6 pence. There were 20 schillings to one pound, so the hat cost less than a pound? I wonder what the American dollar equivalent would have been in 1932.
