I don't know if this will actually sell, but I wanted to test the waters and see if this may be of value to someone else.

I really like this Buco piece, but I just don't reach for it all that much. I bought into the hype of Buco after reading Rin Tinaka's book, and it's a cool shirt/jacket. But as an everyday piece, I have other options I prefer.

Anyway, for the age of this thing, it's in pretty good shape. Not perfect. Not mint. But wearable and very much still serviceable.

There are loads of patina throughout the piece. The hardware all works. It's unlined and the cool factor is definitely there. And the measurements are provided in the pictures.

Notwithstanding, there are expectedly a few issues, too.

First, there is no tag for the maker in this. I know that subtracts value for the hardcore collector. But it's clearly not a Brooks or Bates either.

Second, on the left sleeve, the zipper needs to be restitched. The original cotton thread came undone. Depending on your local options, this is usually a $75-150 expense to fix.

And third, inside the jacket along the shoulder and neck area, the previous owner sewed a leather panel in to reinforce it. It sort of looks like an "in-the-field" patch job for a racer. When you wear the jacket, though, no one is none the wiser.

I'm open to reasonable offers. I don't have an exact figure in mind, but I am well aware of what these fetch when mint, too. Anyway, if interested, message me and we can work out the details.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Buco. Don't all Buco J-100 have letters Buco on the snap closure? Can't tell from pic if this one has. If it does, lack of label for ID is unimportant. Lots of these shirts lost their labels.

I have seen this jacket 1st hand. I have been wearing a Buco J-100 regularly for the past 15 years. IMO Paul's jacket fits and looks like a Buco J-100. The hide I believe to be horsehide. This jacket is not lined. I have view Buco J-100s on the web unlined with Bcuo horsehide tags.

Thanks, Jon.

Perhaps someone who knows the history of Buco can chime in better about the snaps.

The only anecdotal thing I can say or offer is when I took the jacket in to Johnson Leathers for a repair and Allan gave me his feedback. He was saying earlier versions of this shirt/jacket in the 1950s were often unlined, made of horsehide and didn't always have that Buco embossed front snap. But he thought it was without a doubt a Buco.
