I've recently discovered some "classic" TV commercials. Enjoy!

~~Ann Miller's 1970 Great American Soup Commercial
http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=148992&fr=

The campaign is the most elaborate send-up of musical comedy to be sponsored by a premium-priced soup brand. Stan Freberg presented Ann Miller tap-dancing atop an eight-foot replica of a can of Great American Soup, sold by the H. J. Heinz Company.

~~How many of you remember the 1969 Alka Seltzer 'Spicy Meatball' Commercial?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlv7n-Fpn-M

In a commercial (within a commercial) for the fictional product "Magdalini's Meatballs" this guy has to eat a meatball and then say "Mamma mia, that's-a spicy meat-a-ball!" in an Italian accent.

Take after take is ruined by some comedic trial or another. By the commercial's end, the guy has eaten so many meatballs that it's "Alka Seltzer to the rescue".

With his stomach settled, the guy does a perfect take, except the oven door falls off. The director (off-camera) sighs and says, "OK, let's break for lunch."

It has been said that this commercial was dropped because it was allegedly demeaning to Italians. Sorry if this was offensive to anyone here.

Thanks alot Prairie Dog--I've just wasted an hour watching old commercials!;)

It was fun though. Here's some of my favorites--some old some not:

My favorite commercial ever (and I hate Starbucks!); Starbucks Glen; the bus, cute Glen, Roy! I love how the musicians are really selling the song too. Darn near perfection.

same series but not as good;

McDLT—could be the most 80’s commercial ever! Starring George Constanza and his amazing Miami Vice outfit! The colors in this thing hurt my eyes.

PSA Eat Breakfast—I can still sing this entire jingle even though I haven’t seen it since 1975. I’m scared.

VW – this one holds up for me but you either love that song or you hate it

Quisp—this is so bizarre but it reminds me of Jay Ward (wonder if he did the animation?). I love Quisp!

Completely strange Snapple commercial with guinea pigs

imoldfashioned, yes, both Quisp and Quake cereal commercials were by the people behind "Rocky & BUllwinkle" http://www.quisp.com/whereveibeen/wib2.html
For old commercials, I still like "Excuse me Mr. Owl. How many licks to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop."
For new ones, how about:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LFcQz7dRpc0&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LFcQz7dRpc0&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Sincerely,
The Wolf

It was Jay Ward, I thought as much. Thanks for that link but it's so frustrating! They show all these great t-shirts but none of them are for sale! I'll have to look elsewhere.

I've not seen many of the commercials posted--fun! Another commercial that always cracks me up is the Little Richard Geico one:

I think Little Richard just cracks me up full stop. He does a version of "I Feel Pretty" that's a huge guilty pleasure of mine.

Why dont they make these anymore?

Hanker for a hunk of cheese ;)
Or this one, was my favorite, Sunshine on a stick.

Complete with an old school ice tray.

Or this lovely commercial that was filmed not too far from me. No special effects. Just 250,000+ super balls.

I have no idea how to make links, nor really, any clue how to find it anyway, but I remember another all-singing, all-dancing glittering Busby Berkely pastiche from the late 6Os for Contac cold pills. Another budget-blaster, I'm sure.

My other favorite was an ad for some headache remedy that was nothing more than a voiceover while this white-on-black calligraphic flourish grew until it filled the screen.

EDIT:

I have removed this as an amusing NZ ad from 10 years ago probably isn't quite relevant to a thread about classic US ads.

Sorry if this off topic post offended anyone.

I've been going through some old ads after poking around on this site
http://www.hollywoodupclose.com/search.php?page=1&keyword=50s+ad&x=0&y=0

Firstly I found an old pepsodent advert
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1vub6_50s-pepsodent-ad_ads

Then Budweiser - you'd think it was an advert for a flute if they didn't bring in the slogan at the end
http://www.ifilm.com/video/2876585
I found this one ironic because they plonk modern commercials on before you watch the vintage one. No comparison really.

Then this one for 'Prom' is totally bizarre
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2yyv7_pub-prom-home-permanent-w-chico-har_ads

NBC
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1y44z_nbc-peacock-50s_ads

Cigarette Ad
http://www.stupidvideos.com/video/just_plain_stupid/A_Cigarette_A_Day/

There's lots more gems on there too

I remember a commercial from when I was young, but I don't remember what it was for. I just remember a little kid saying, "Thank you, Easter Bunny! Bawk Bawk!" I think he was dressed as a chicken or something??? Does anyone remember it? I used to love saying that all the time.

I also liked this old lifesavers commercial where this little boy is talking to a little girl (they were each about 5 years old or so):

Boy: Will you marry me?
Girl: Where's my ring?
(he gives her a lifesaver)
Girl: A lifesaver?
Boy: It's a beginning...

I thought that was the cutest commercial ever.

I think you are referring to the Cadbury Egg commercial. You know the rabbit that clucks like a chicken. :D :p
