cleaning with naptha

Has anyone tried acetone for hat cleaning? While it's extremely volatile, it's the least toxic of the solvents and dries almost instantly, leaving no odor.

PERC ?

Or if you can get hold of some dry cleaning fluid, known as PERC. Sweet smelling and nonflammable.

I've been reading through all the threads regarding cleaning hats and liners with naphtha but I have not seen any one answer the question of "is there a difference between naphtha and NW&P naphtha?" My local Lowes and Home Depot only carry NW&P, it is the same stuff?

I believe so. You've probably noticed that at Lowes and Home Depot it comes in small containers and costs a lot. I got mine at Ace Hardware. Had to buy a case which was four 1/2 gallon cans, but it was a lot cheaper. They had to special order it, which is why I had to get the case.
