Dating Hats by Sweatband and Liner

I know there are threads for specific brands on this topic. But the Wormser I just bought has characteristics I've seen on Stetsons and other hats here so I'd just like some guidance if possible on how old the hat is.

I don't have a camera at the moment so no pics, but here are the facts:

1) The sweatband is very nice brown leather about 1 3/4" wide
2) It is sewn directly to the felt. There is no reeding.
3) Between the sweatband and the felt there is a strip of paper like material that is also used on the lining to cover the logo.
4) The lining is sewn on and the seam is on the back.

Can anyone help me here? Thanks in advance.

I have 1950's Stetsons that have the film piece between the sweatband & the inside of the crown. Do you have the size tag? Does it have the entire size like 7 1/8 or just 1/8 ?

The size tag says "7 1/2 Wormser" and it's red paper. I'd never seen a red size tag before.

Interesting...I have 50's/early 60's model Stetson that just have the fraction on a black & gold tab. My 40's model is a fraction on a yellow paper tab. Wormser could've used the full sizing much earlier. My guess would be 1960's at the latest & it is just that a guess

I know, I know. The wife is in Australia and she took the camera with her. She returns Friday, so maybe this weekend I can post some pics. I'll also be getting a Stratoliner and a Johnnyphi Lee back from cleaning at Barons this week so I can post those as well.

She thinks I have too many hats now. And I bought 3 while she was gone, so I think an Akubra is unlikely.

Well aware of that point of view, but boxes keep showing up on the porch. She doesn't really know which are new or which are existing ones being returned from cleaning/repair work!
