When exactly did blazers and sportcoats get the leather patches on them? I never see them in the old catalogs but keep thinking they are originally English. Can anyone help?

    Hmmmm...

I have been told late 1960's which is what I thought. I dunno about any of you, even though I hate 60's and 70's wear, patches can look good on some blazers and I mean some!

    They are back

Fall 2005 will see some clothing lines offering suede elbow patches on some sport coats. You will also see the return of some different back treatments e.g. bi-swing on some tweed and corduroy sport coats. Authentic Harris Tweeds will be shown in several lines.

Jackets started getting patches on their elbows because that was where they wore out.
