I have a photo of one of his hats, which I took at the museum in Warm Springs, Georgia. I'll have to settle for that, and let somebody else have this one.

What a beautiful piece of history..you're right Maj. Nick, it should have gone for more, and yes Gents, it went to a fellow lounger. I can't wait to see more detailed pics.

Personally, I think it is a great piece of history and worth every penny. I would love to see more.

To the member who now owns this item should block it like this and put it under glass!

A good deal for a "New Deal" hat! lol

When I saw the price of 2,600.00 I thought: seems like a lot of money for a fedora! But, since it belonged to such a huge American icon, I say it went for CHEEP! I recall seeing a random sports item from the 1939 World's fair... sold for over 3,000! No real history behind it as to who owned it and such... interesting.

Ebay is very hit or miss these days... many sellers are having a hard time selling items that used to sell quick... the market it is saturated I believe.

That's a multi-market item, tho...sports nuts, World's Fair nuts, and New York nuts. (I'm assuming no San Francisco '39 item would pull that kinda dough.)

That hat was sold for a very good price. The buyer got a piece of history. I have seen hats that belonged to movie stars such as Charlie Chaplins derby sell for much more.
I think if I could own a hat from a famous person , it would have to be Al Capone. I heard once that one of the museums in Chicago have one of his hats . Now that would make a great display item !
