Found this in an antique store for $3.16:eek:and love it! Fits great! Has a nice big, supple uncracked horsehide sweatband in the front 2/3rds of the cap.
One moth nip and a few tiny tracks here and there. Adjustable with elastic in back. Size tag missing but I'm guessing "M" adjusting upward from there. I think the "G" might be for Goshen, IN, since the shop was in Auburn, IN off of I-69.
Brilliant, rich red color that the photos do not do justice to. Phone camera: sub-standard photographer. Can't be sure of its vintage, my guess is late forties, early fifties.
Maker tag has the model name "Adjusto" made by the Wilbac MFG. Co. of Chicago, IL. No date.

deanglen, The "G" could stand for Georgia. The colors are right for the University of Georgia. (The current cap has a black G, surrounded by a white border, on the red cap. But I do believe they have used the plain white G, in the past). By the way, I'm a Georgia Tech alumnus, and you don't want to know what I used to have to yell about Georgia, at the football games.

I thought maybe that was a new uniform hat and the G was for the BOSSMAN!! :D :D :D :D

Hey, that's a good one, Indy. I can see why RBH would appreciate it too, (expect that there is no compass along with it, Rusty.)
